Stores Supervisor - Ports and Terminals at DP World Tanzania November 2024

Job type: Full-time
Job Function
Responsible for overall day to day Stores Operations, making sure stores activities runs smoothly, cleanly and meets the target.

Key Performance Areas:
Order and Receive Materials
  • Identity
  • Ensure that correct receiving procedures are followed by sub-ordinates (i.e quality, quantity and description match
  • Ensure that material received is routed to the correct location and that originators are informed of arrival of material
  • Provide assistance with the off-loading of materials and complete receiving cycles and steps without delay
  • Carry out regular spot checks within the receiving area to ensure material is timeously removed from the suspense bay
  • Provide assistance in resolving queries with customers (end-users and suppliers)
Storage, Inventory Control and Issuing
  • Ensure that Maximo and Oracle records are updated and maintained in respect of receipt, issuing and cataloguing of stock items
  • Check continuously that material is correctly and safely stored at designated bins
  • Identify slow or non-moving items through utilizing reports from Maximo system or personal observation and report to Store Manager
  • Ensure FIFO principles are applied by identifying material which has either been stored beyond shelf life or has deteriorated i.e. rusted, damaged. Liaise with end-users where necessary and arrange for adjustment and corrective (preventative) action if required
  • Arrange for secure storage for items considered pilferable
  • Optimize storage area i.e. avoid wasted space and grouping of items to avoid double handling
  • Apply knowledge and experience in improving on housekeeping standards
  • Ensure that correct issuing and distribution procedures are followed
  • Ensure cycle count are carried out on a continuous
  • Monitor usage trends and suggest changes to Min/Max levels where required
  • Maintain security by prohibiting the access of unauthorized personnel into the store
  • Maintain discipline in the workplace by applying policies and procedures and apply disciplinary action if required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
Administration
  • Ensure that data capture verification is done and that transaction records are filed for a period of seven years
  • Ensure Policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Maintain the Health and Safety Policy as applicable to the area of responsibility
  • Carries out any reasonable task or duty of similar nature as instructed by the Store Manager.
Customer Liaison
  • Promote good relationships between staff and user departments

Qualifications Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Management, logistics or Business Administration

  • Two (2) years’ experience in Procurement & Supply Chain
  • Deep understanding and professional experience with Stores Management
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Skills with Microsoft Excel
