Overview

Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is responsible for the maintenance and development of the Trunk and Regional Roads Network in Tanzania Mainland. It is also responsible for conducting Axle Load Control Operations using weighbridge scales.

The Regional Manager, TANROADS-Tanga, on behalf of the Chief Executive, invites qualified Tanzanians to apply for vacancies for the Supervision of Mafuleta – Kileguru Road Project (30KM).

Available Positions
1. Resident Engineer (1 Post)
Position Title: Resident Engineer (1 Post)
Educational/Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• Registered with ERB as a Professional Engineer with a valid practicing license.
• Experience in contract management under FIDIC conditions is an added advantage.
• Served as a Resident Engineer in at least two road construction projects of similar scope.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Tanzanian citizen with 10+ years of experience in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise the contractor on-site.
• Manage project work plans, quality, and contracts.
• Process monthly statements and facilitate payments.
• Prepare progress reports, minutes of site meetings, and maintain records.
• Monitor social and environmental impact measures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

2. Assistant Surveyor (1 Post)
Position Title: Assistant Surveyor (1 Post)
Educational/Professional Qualifications:

• Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent from a recognized institution.
• At least 2 years of cumulative experience in survey works.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Tanzanian citizen, 25 years or older.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct surveys to determine the shape, contour, and dimensions of land.
• Coordinate survey findings with engineers and project stakeholders.
• Adjust instruments to maintain accuracy.
• Establish fixed points for mapping and measurements.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

3. Works Inspector – Road Works (1 Post)
Position Title: Works Inspector – Road Works (1 Post)
Educational/Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in road construction.
• Self-motivated, able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
• Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise works to ensure compliance with specifications.
• Implement QA/QC procedures.
• Maintain records such as diaries, correspondence, and reports.
• Measure quantities of roadworks daily.
• Prepare and submit progress reports.
• Identify and segregate non-conforming materials.

4. Works Inspector – Drainage and Structure (1 Post)
Position Title: Works Inspector – Drainage and Structure (1 Post)
Educational/Professional Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Registered with ERB as a Graduate/Professional Engineer.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in drainage and structure design or construction.
• Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supervise drainage works and maintain related records.
• Measure quantities of completed works daily.
• Submit progress reports with updated costs.
• Maintain a site diary.
• Perform other duties as required.

5. Materials Technician (1 Post)
Position Title: Materials Technician (1 Post)
Educational/Professional Qualifications:

• Full Technician Certificate or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• Experience in laboratory/materials testing is an added advantage.
• Self-motivated, able to work under pressure.
• Fluent in English and a Tanzanian citizen.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Monitor laboratory experiments and ensure adherence to specifications.
• Inspect and test materials for compliance with requirements.
• Keep records of all materials-related activities.
• Ensure that test results conform to specifications.
• Manage QA/QC procedures effectively.
