JOB VACANCY – NURSE-(POOL)

Nurse at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) November 2024

Title: Nurse
Duration: Depending on need
Direct Reports: Nursing Team Supervisor
Location: Nduta Camp and Kibondo (Kigoma Region)

Required Criteria:
Minimum Educational Qualification:
· Nursing diploma, Bachelor of Science in Nursing Desirable.
· Must be registered and allowed to practise Under Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC)

Experience:
Essential: Essential: 2 years of previous experience in related jobs and Minimum 2 years of experience as Nurse in other NGOs.

Languages:
· Essential mission language: English and Swahili (Kirundi and/or French will be a plus.)

Objectives of the position:
Providing nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, MSF proto cols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.

Main Responsibilities:
· Knowing, promoting, implementing, and following up the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard pre-vention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensur-ing high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment.
· While Observing Confidentiality, Organizing and carrying out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, and assisting during consulta-tions, daily rounds and other medical procedures. Participating in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary.
· Identifying Sexually Gender Based Violence victims and referring them to the medical team so they can receive the necessary treatment. Knowing and is aware of the importance and appropriate use of the Post Exposure Prophylax-is (PEP) Kit
· Ensuring patients are properly received and installed and that those with lack of autonomy are assisted, especially regarding their feeding, personal hygiene, movements and comfort. For ER and OPD nurse, ensuring triage of pa-tients in waiting areas, wards or during emergencies, detecting the priority acute/emergency cases, carrying out first aid care and referring them to the doctor when necessary.
· Sending material to be sterilized and recuperates it from sterilization.
· Carrying out admission, surveillance and follow-up of patients (i.e. assessment of the evolution of their state of health and the identification of any emergency situation or deterioration
· Carrying and supervising administrative procedures and documents (fill in patient’s files, forms, consumptions, sta-tistics, registers, health files, etc.), ensuring an appropriate written/oral handover, and reporting any problematic sit-uations and cases that may arise. Participating in data collection and keeping doctors/supervisors informed.
· Participating in the department-related pharmacy and medical equipment control and maintenance (quality and its functioning, storage conditions, follow-up of expired drugs inventories, stock takes of medicines and material at eve-ry team changeover ensuring no material is taken out of nursing area/wards without prior authorisation, etc.)
· Perform cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
· Supervising and training nurse-aids, nutritional assistants, cleaners and other related staff under his/her supervision, ensuring teamwork and adherence to all appropriate MSF protocols and procedures.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
· Organize and carry out nursing activities according to Doctor/Cos prescriptions and orders in line with the MSF protocols.
· Respect the six rights of Medicine Administration
· Be accountable for quality and continuity of care.
· Make the handover at the bedside of the patient and all materials including pharmaceuticals and hardware.
· Being able to handle quickly a patient with emergency signs on the principle of A, B, C, D.
· Register as soon as possible the consumption of drugs in the tally sheet. And report rupture or deterioration on materials.
· Prepare the necessary equipment and materials for the medical ward round and be aware of all changes made by the doctor/CO.
· In quality care aspect, dating venous catherers, nasogastric tubes and the open infusionss bag.
· Ensure vital signs are taken at the respected times and at times of deteriotation and report and act any abnormalities.
· Respect Infection Control and Prevention procedures.
· And others task related to patients’ management despite the department.

JOB VACANCY – NURSE AID -(POOL)

Nurse Aid at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) November 2024

Title: Nurse Aid
Duration: Depending on need

· Certificate in Nursing and Midwifery.
· Must be registered and allowed to practise Under Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC)

Objectives of the position:
Assisting in the nursing activities with hospitalised patients, according to nurses and doctors’ prescription, universal hygiene standards and MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality medical care for patients.

Main Responsibilities:
· Assisting the nurse in organizing and providing care and treatments to patients, respecting at all times, the rules of hygiene, safety, comfort, dignity, medical secret and patient confidentiality. Giving response to nurse’s requirements in case of an emergency
· Participating in the surveillance and monitoring of the patient and reporting to the nurse any relevant information. Compensating patients’ possible lack of autonomy by assisting and helping them in feeding, personal hygiene, movements and general comfort
· Participating in the monitoring of nursing activities (correctly fill in patient files, etc.) and ensuring a relevant transfer of information between duty teams. Reporting any problem arising in the care unit, especially the loss, robbery or damage of equipment or medicines.
· Ensuring cleanliness of his/her working environment (including facilities, material, linen, equipment, and carrying out the sorting and disposal of waste)
· Working together with the nurses, cleaners and caretakers.
· Participating actively in the hospital platform (meetings, committee,.), trainings and in the basic health education sessions
· Participating in any other related activities as requested by the line manager.
· Performing minor maintenance and cleaning of the biomedical equipment following user manual and protocols. Alerting the supervisor in case of malfunctioning of any device.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities:
· The OPD and Triage nurse Aid must triage all patients in accordance with IITT and implement emergency treatment measures as per MSF protocols.
· In quality care aspect, dating venous caterers, nasogastric tubes and the open infusions bag.
· Ensure vital signs are taken at the respected times and at times of deterioration and report and act any abnormalities.
· Register as soon as possible the consumption of drugs in the tally sheet. And report rupture or deterioration on materials.
· Respect Infection Control and Prevention procedures.
· Patients who receive feedings via NGT are given and monitored well.
· Others task related to patients’ management despite the department.

JOB VACANCY – MIDWIFE-(POOL)

Midwife at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) November 2024

Title: Midwife
Duration: Depending on need

Required Criteria:
Minimum Educational Qualification:
· Required: Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery. Desired Bachelor in Midwifery.
· Must be registered and allowed to practise Under Tanzania Nurses and Midwives Council (TNMC)

Experience:
· Essential: Working experience of at least two years in midwife activities related jobs.

Languages:
· Essential mission language: English and Swahili (Kirundi and/or French will be a plus.)

Objectives of the position:
Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after deliv-ery, according to MSF obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and newborn caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.

Main Responsibilities:
· Ensuring the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC 1 and CEmONC 2), neonatal and management of victims of sexual violence, obstetrics and gynaecological complications in accordance with MSF protocols.
· Where PMTCT is implemented, ensuring implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC/delivery and PNC consultations (pre counselling, test and post counselling).
· Assessing the feasibility for referral of pregnant women form the TBAs to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
· Ensuring hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to MSF specifications.
· Performing cleaning and minor maintenance for biomedical equipment used. Following the user manual and MSF protocols and alert supervisor in case of malfunctioning.
· Guaranteeing a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
· Properly following up all newborn babies from delivery until discharge, informing mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
· Ensuring patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected.
· Supervising that administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations comply with MSF protocols, as well as verify patients are properly informed and receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card, etc
· Participating in the organisation of the ward in collaboration with other midwifes and the maternity ward supervisor. Ensure transfer of relevant information to the next shift team (specially identifying risk cases) According to MSF protocols in force, conduct normal deliveries independently, manage obstetric emergencies; identify cases needing referral and send them in time.
