Position: Graduate Trainee – Relationship Management & Administration

Job Summary:
The Graduate Trainee program at African Bulk Company is designed for recent graduates who are eager to kickstart their careers in the commodities trading and logistics industry. This program offers hands-on experience and mentorship to develop key skills and knowledge necessary for professional growth within the organization.

The Graduate Trainee in the Relationship Management & Admin Department will undergo comprehensive training and development to support various functions within the department. This role is designed to provide a solid foundation in relationship management, administration, and customer service within the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Relationship Management: Assist in building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Support the Operations Manager in identifying client needs and providing solutions.
  • Attend client meetings, prepare reports, and follow up on client inquiries.
  • Customer Service: Respond to client inquiries and provide excellent customer support.
  • Assist in resolving client issues and escalating complex cases to senior staff.
  • Monitor and track shipments to ensure timely delivery and clearance.
  • Administration: Perform general administrative duties, including data entry, filing, and document management.
  • Assist in preparing and processing customs documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance processes.
  • Shadowing and Learning: Shadow experienced professionals to gain insights into daily operations, processes, and best practices.
  • Learn to utilize relevant tools and technologies associated with the role.
  • Build professional relationships within the organization and with internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in company events, meetings, and other networking opportunities.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Relevant Field, e.g. Economics, Business Administration, Logistics, Finance.
  • Recent graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Excellent written English and Swahili
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Preferred Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Previous internship or project experience in a relevant field is a plus.

About the Role:
As a Declaration Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring smooth customs clearance for our import and export operations. You’ll work closely with clients and customs officials to navigate the complexities of customs regulations and provide excellent service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and submit customs declarations for all shipments in compliance with Tanzanian regulations.
  • Manage documentation, ensuring all shipping documents are accurate and complete.
  • Monitor compliance with customs laws and stay updated on relevant regulations.
  • Communicate with clients regarding customs inquiries and updates on their shipments.
  • Resolve issues related to customs clearance and collaborate with customs officials to expedite processes.
  • Generate reports for management on customs activities and compliance matters.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in customs declaration or a similar role. • Strong knowledge of Tanzanian customs regulations and procedures. • Proficient in TANCIS, TeSWS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and communication abilities. • Excellent Written and Spoken English and Swahili
Preferred Skills:
  • Certification from a recognized customs authority.
  • Experience in international shipping and trade compliance.
