Job Overview
Position: Project Driver
Company: UMATI
Chama cha Uzazi na Malezi Bora Tanzania (UMATI) established in 1959, is an autonomous voluntary National NGO originally incorporated under CAP 337 in 1973, established under the non-governmental organization Act No 24 of 2002 in 2019 with registration number 00NGO/R2/000231. UMATI is a full Member Association (MA) of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) accredited in since 2015.
UMATI works in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, and Regional Administration and Local Government (PORALG) with the goal of providing Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) education, information, and services in Tanzania. The association has a long leadership history in SRH Programs in Tanzania including pioneering in Family Planning (FP) services, SRHR programs for young people, integrated Clinics, and Community-based service delivery approaches.
UMATI wishes to recruit a qualified and experienced candidate to fill in the following vacant position;
Job title: Project Driver
Reporting to: Project Coordinator
Duration: Five (5) Months
Location: Dodoma Region
Job Purpose:
The Incumbent is responsible for monitoring the vehicle’s performance, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and intervening when necessary to maintain safe operation. This role requires adherence to all traffic laws and regulations, as well as maintaining the vehicle in a clean, operational condition and perform all driving activities as may be assigned.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow predetermined routes and schedules or adapt to alternate routes as necessary due to traffic or road conditions.
- Always ensure the safety and comfort of passengers or the secure transport of project materials.
- Perform regular inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition and report any issues to the appropriate supervisor
- Drives and takes staff involved in Association’s official activities to different destinations as shall be required.
- Transport and/or pick up clients and/or packages to and from destinations.
- Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays.
- Interact with clients professionally at all times.
- Ensure that the vehicle(s) is/are always fueled and ready for use.
- Arrange for vehicle(s) repairs as needed.
- Report any technical problems associated with the vehicle(s) assigned to him/her.
- Complete the vehicle log book(s) on daily basis recording each movement.
- Dispatch letters and other documents as shall be directed.
- Drive vehicle(s) assigned to him/her in an efficient and safe manner.
- Keeps the vehicle(s) clean, neat and ensures the safety of the vehicle(s) and tools.

Qualifications/Experience Requirements:
- Possess Certificate of Secondary School Education Examination (Form IV).
- Possess a valid and clean Driver’s license Class C with at least two (2) years of driving experience.
- Experience in cine bus driving is an added advantage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent navigation skills and proficiency in using navigation applications to find delivery locations.
- Time management and organizational skills to keep track of deliveries and stay on schedule.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients.
- Skills in customer care Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission and values of UMATI.
