We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented colleague to join our Embassy’s finance team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the Embassy, ensuring that all accounting and financial reporting is accurate, compliant, and timely. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented colleague to join our Embassy’s finance team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing the financial operations of the Embassy, ensuring that all accounting and financial reporting is accurate, compliant, and timely. As an Accountant and Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for a range of financial and administrative tasks including bookkeeping, payroll processing, VAT refunds, and supporting various operational assignments. Your expertise will contribute directly to the financial integrity and efficiency of the embassy.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly and in accordance with accounting principles.
- Reporting: Prepare, analyse, and share financial reports, forecasts, and budgets to help with management decision-making.
- Payroll Management: Ensure payroll runs smoothly, staying compliant with tax regulations, NSSF, and answering any payroll-related questions.
- VAT Refunds: Handle VAT refund claims, making sure they are accurate and submitted on time.
- Administrative Support: Manage invoicing, budgeting, and financial planning tasks. Assist with various reconciliations, audit/financial analyses, settlement of expenses, outlays, etc.
- Operational Assignments: Support various operational tasks to ensure compliance, including procurement, vendor management, and performing as focal point for banking relations.
- Operational Efficiency: Identify and implement improvements in our financial processes and controls.

Join our dynamic team at the Embassy of Denmark in Tanzania and contribute to fostering strong diplomatic relations between Denmark and Tanzania as a Public Diplomacy and Communications Officer. The job holder reports to the Team Leader/Management.
Denmark’s cooperation with Tanzania has been evolving since 1963, making Tanzania the first African country Denmark partnered with. Over the past 60 years, Denmark has contributed more than 50 trillion TZS to Tanzania’s socio-economic development through Danida, and close relations have been built between people and institutions.
In recognition of Tanzania’s evolving role on the global scene, Denmark is now broadening its partnership with Tanzania. In addition to development cooperation, we will work through government-to-government twinning, and we are committed to seeing stronger trade and investment relations, and a rich political dialogue on national and global issues of relevance to both Denmark and Tanzania.
To deliver on the future partnership, we seek a self-driven, creative, and strong communicator who can deliver on the Embassy’s public diplomacy ambitions. - Identify and prioritise content for the Embassy’s public engagement platforms (Social media, website, intranet, etc.)
- Develop audio-visual content of development initiatives for public outreach.
- Ensure timely, tailor-made outreach to the public on key events.
- Support speech writing.
- Draft articles on Danish-Tanzanian cooperation for relevant platforms.
- Build network with communication colleagues and cultural attaches from other EU embassies and international organisations and participate in relevant working groups.
- Manage cultural projects.
- Support organisation of high-level visits and public diplomacy events such as Nordic Week.
- Monitor local and global news of relevance to the Embassy’s work.
