The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of North Western Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s South East of the nearest point of Lake Victoria.
The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the safe, efficient, and timely loading and hauling of materials from the Nyamulilima pit, ensuring production targets are met in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The successful candidate will manage the operation of all equipment, including excavators and haul trucks, to achieve at least 85% efficiency, while also maintaining critical infrastructure such as haul roads and ramps. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Fleet Management team to drive productivity improvements, plan dewatering activities, and monitor performance to meet the production goals.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of Secondary School Education with extensive experience in supervising Open-Pit Mining operations.
  • The incumbent must have a valid Tanzanian driving license and site driving permit.

EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 15 years of experience in Open Pit Mining, with a focus on operational supervision.
  • Proven experience in managing mining operations and equipment, including excavators, dump trucks, and other heavy machinery.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures within mining environment.
  • Experience in infrastructure maintenance, particularly in road and ramp construction within open pit mines.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • The prime objective of your role is to ensure that the material is loaded and hauled from the pit to the Waste dumps and Ore to the crusher with Zero safety and environments incidences, in the amount and time frame defined by the Manager Plan. Your expected to use the most efficient and effective method during the execution.
  • The highest inherent risk at Geita Gold mine is in the rolling stock environment. It is your accountability to ensure that all GGM standards on operational, safety related policies and procedures that relate to Loading and Hauling of material are adhered to simultaneously with meeting production standard as defined by the production Manage.
  • You are accountable for ensuring that the loading and hauling of material is done in accordance with the annual, monthly, and daily plan as given by the Manager. Your KPI is to ensure that the mining plan is followed and that there is a minimum of 85% compliance to this plan.
  • As front-line manager in the Load and Haul environment you are accountable for the operation of all the excavators and haul trucks for Nyamulilima pit these machines need to be utilized at the efficiency and effectiveness of 85% minimum. You are also accountable for the operation of effective utilization for all the ancillary equipment for Nyamulilima pit.
  • The construction of haul roads, ramps and in pits running boards also lies in your area of accountability. It is important to note that one of the key drivers to production efficiency in Nyamulilima is the correct construction and maintenance of the in pits roads, temporally ramps. You are accountable for producing maintenance schedules of these areas. The design criteria for these roads will be given to you by the Manager must be adhered to. This includes the correct construction of berms, drains and cambers on the roads.
  • Your also accountable to produce a plan which will support the dewatering activities in your pit when required.
  • You are accountable for developing a tracking method on the failure zone to achieve the planed productivity as per yearly target.
  • Working in collaboration with the Fleet management Superintendent you are required to identify opportunities for productivity improvements. Using the data in the Modular system, you need to identify where there are areas of loss and develop plans and strategies to improve the productivities that we are currently achieving.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The ideal candidate should have strong experience in production planning, cost optimization, KPI management, reporting, process improvement, resource allocation, and a deep understanding of geology, environmental regulations, and coordination with maintenance to achieve production targets efficiently.
  • Knowledge and procedures for the repairs and maintenance of all HME/LME Mining Equipment
