The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) framework is vital for the country to achieve the national and global strategic health goals by ensuring that healthcare workers (HCWs) continuously maintain and enhance their professional skills and knowledge throughout their careers. As the national guiding document, the CPD framework provides strategic direction on critical aspects of the CPD system in Tanzania, including license renewal requirements, CPD point accrual modalities, and other essential guidelines.

In response to emerging needs and evolving dynamics within the healthcare sector, the CPD framework, originally developed in 2011, has undergone a necessary revision resulting in a recently finalized National CPD framework 2024.
