Geita Gold Mining Ltd (GGML) is Tanzania’s leading gold producer with a single operation in Geita Region. The company is a subsidiary of AngloGold Ashanti, an international gold producer headquartered in South Africa, with operations in more than ten countries, in four continents. The mine is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of North Western Tanzania, only about 85 km’s from Mwanza City and 20 km’s South East of the nearest point of Lake Victoria.
The company has its head office in Geita, only 5 Km’s west of the fast-growing town of Geita, and also a supporting office in Dar es Salaam.

Position: Coordinator 1 - HSE HME Field Services
Contract type & Duration: Unspecified Time Contract
Department: Engineering
Reporting to: Senior Supervisor - Field Services
Number of Positions: One (1)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The purpose of the role is to oversee and ensure the safety of field service operations by promoting OHSE practices, maintaining up-to-date documentation, providing technical support, and assisting in the development of safety management systems to achieve a safe working environment.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum A-level certificate.
  • Relevant certificate/Diploma in safety e.g NOSHIC,NEBOSH etc.
  • Management qualification (SDP/SLP).
  • Technical background (Diploma / Degree/Full technician in electrical/electronic Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or related field) will be an added advantage.
  • The incumbent must have a valid Tanzania driving license.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of mining industry experience with the knowledge of what ISO 45001 and 14001 are, hazard and risk management, OHSE issue facilitation, major hazard awareness, and managing OHSE programs while interpreting safety data.

MAIN OR KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Review safety performance and recommendation to the Field Service Superintendent a systematic program to monitor the employee, equipment for effective compliance with safety Management practices, standards, and requirements.
  • Co-operate, participate, and facilitate investigations with a focus on near misses & high potential incidents.
  • Participate and co-ordinate risk assessment process on regular basis (BLRA, issue based and continuous)
  • Enforce hazard management program by ensuring CCV are performed in a quality manner.
  • Develop own PTOs plans, undertake planned task observations, and assist with the development of job safety analysis.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of GGM policies, guidelines, procedures, and code of practices in the area of accountability.
  • Submission of monthly activities reports and any other reports as required.
  • Train and coach HSE Reps within the area of accountability.
  • Ensure all safety related documents are in shared drives.
  • Attend OHSE meetings and toolbox meetings as per the ISO 45001:2018 & 14001:2015 communication, consultation, participation system element requirement (Preparation of safety topic).
  • Facilitate awareness of the Engineering safe working procedures to all team time to time
  • Actively supports the implementations, review and monitoring of targeted safety campaigns and related improvement initiatives.
