The purpose of this anticipated PMI Mbu (Mosquitoes) project is to identify and implement proven, evidence-based vector control approaches in Tanzania, in support of reducing the overall malaria burden and moving Tanzania closer to Malaria elimination. The anticipated project has four primary components: (1) Insecticides treated mosquito net ( ITN) distribution; (2) Social and behavior change (SBC) for ITN use and other vector control interventions; (3) Using data, including those generated from entomological surveillance, to provide the Government of Tanzania and malaria partners with expert technical guidance, and as appropriate, develop plans for implementation of modified or new vector control approaches in Tanzania; and (4) Capacity strengthening of government institutions ( Mainland Medical Store Department (MSD) and Zanzibar Central Medical Store (CMS).
