REPOA Jobs 2024CONSULTANTS – Language and Technical Editor
CONSULTANTS – Language and Technical Editor at REPOA Tanzania August 2024
REPOA is
an independent research institution with a mandate to create and
facilitate utilization of knowledge for socioeconomic advancement. REPOA
was established in 1994 to support poverty eradication initiatives and
to build and strengthen additional local research capacity in Tanzania
through tailor-made training and learning by doing. This mandate was
broadened overtime to encompass a broader aspect of socioeconomic
transformation, recognizing that inclusive development and sustained
poverty reduction results from economic growth combined with good
governance and social policy that promotes innovation, equity, and
accountability.
This evolution has entailed significant investment in in-house research capabilities and strengthening of dialogue platforms for informing and engaging with various development stakeholders. In addition to its strategic research portfolio, REPOA collaborates with regional and international think tanks, development agencies, and partners to undertake joint research programmes, leveraging on the global knowledge, specific expertise, and information exchange.
REPOA engages actively in policy analysis and reviews and supports various processes of developing national and sector policies geared to accelerate economic growth and socio-economic transformation for inclusive development and sustained poverty reduction. Its influence on policy is enhanced by partnerships with key research users and stakeholders in the three arms of the Government, namely the executive, legislature, and the judiciary, as well as the civil society organisations, development partners, private sector, research, and academia.
Role overview
One of the key functions of a think tank is to effectively communicate its research findings and related policy recommendations to the targeted audiences and beneficiaries. It is critical that these outputs are always produced, edited, and published in a timely manner; that they consistently reflect the highest standards of accuracy and quality; and that they effectively represent REPOA’s brand.
REPOA intends to increase the number and scope of its analytical outputs, and to expand its outreach. This will require the support of independent language and technical editors to augment the internal capacity.
