Quality Control Manager – Ripening Specialist at Farm Manager July 2024
Tanzania – Tanzania: Our client is looking for a Quality Control Manager – Ripening Specialist to join the team.Only candidates with the relevant experience will be considered.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: 5-7 years of similar or related work experience, specifically in fruit Quality Assurance (with a focus on bananas).
- Travel: Willingness to travel internationally as required.
- Retail Experience: Preferred experience in retail settings.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to use logical or scientific thinking to solve complex problems involving several abstract and concrete variables.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, capable of working effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Fruit Quality Inspection: Inspect the quality of bananas and other fruits during loading and unloading of containers, ensuring only the highest quality produce is accepted.
- Onsite Inspections: Perform inspections onsite during loading of containers, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Freshness Monitoring: Continuously monitor merchandise on hand to maintain freshness and quality.
- Ripening Control: Oversee and control the ripening process for bananas, fruits, and vegetables, ensuring optimal ripeness.
- Inbound Product Inspection: Inspect inbound perishable products for quality and compliance with standards.
- Report Preparation: Prepare comprehensive reports on soft fruit, bananas, and aged inventory, providing detailed insights and recommendations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with receivers and selectors to ensure the quality of merchandise is maintained throughout the supply chain.
- Work Schedule Adherence: Maintain a consistent work schedule and fulfil the expected number of working hours.
- Ripening Area Management: Monitor ripening areas and rooms for cleanliness and proper functioning of equipment, adjusting computer inventory balances as necessary.
- Environmental Testing: Conduct tests in ripening rooms to measure humidity, CO2, and ethylene levels, ensuring optimal conditions for ripening.
- Additional Duties: Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required by the organization.
