Title: HEALTH PROMOTION SUPERVISOR (Female)
Direct Reports: IECHP Manager/PMR
Location: Liwale, Lindi Region

MAIN PURPOSE

With the support and guidance of the IECHP Manager, this position will be responsible for implementing the HP strategy and work plan, as well as supervising HP activities and CHW teams working in the communities and health facilities in accordance with the project’s objectives, MSF values, standards, and procedures.

ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Actively contribute to the design/adaptation of the HP strategy and yearly planning.
• Lead and follow up on the implementation of the HP strategy /workplan according to the chronogram.
• Support participatory approaches and regular patient/community consultations before and during implementation of the HP strategy.
• Supervising community health workers activities and providing technical support in health facilities and community.
• Organizing health awareness sessions for MSF and MoH staff. (Medical & Non-Medical)
• Support in the design of health education materials and participatory methods, applying the right process (pretesting, validation of content, translation).
• Contribute to conduct assessments and surveys.
• Actively support in the systematic collection, encoding and reporting of community feedback and rumours.
• Support the implementation of community-based surveillance (data collection, active case finding, tracing, linkage to care.
• Responsible for the planning and organization of community meetings (in collaboration with IECHP Manager).
• Contribute to conduct community social mapping, census, implementation of medical activities in the community e.g., referral, vaccination etc.
• Monitoring: Ensure the availability of the data collection tools; the data encoding in the data base and the quantitative and qualitative data check.
• Monitoring: Contribute to the analysis of the monitoring data and look for adjustment (in collaboration with IECHP manager), monthly reporting. (Sitrep, Quarterly, and event reports)

Team management:
• Contribute to the development plan of CHWs and ensure the planning and practical organisation of the activities for the HP team (HP roaster).
• Training: Contribute to the needs assessment, design and implementation of training for the HP team, in collaboration with the IECHP manager.
• Organize regular and systematic supervision of the HP activities and provide on the job-coaching, mentoring, peer learning, job rotations,
• Ensure the organisation of regular team meetings. (Medical, CHWs meetings)

Context Specific Accountabilities:
• Organizing and overseeing health education sessions at health facilities and within the community, including demonstration sessions for Community Health Workers (CHWs).
• Engaging the community in various Health Promotion (HP) activities to collect data of pregnant women and children under five through methods such as Focus Group Discussions, Patient Satisfaction Surveys, Welcome and Discharge talks, celebrations of global and national days, and parents’ meetings in schools.
• Identifying key actors within the community, such as local authorities, village committees, local NGOs, traditional healers, and community focal persons within the catchment area.
• Organizing, training, and supervising the HP team in planning and organizing their work, supporting, evaluating, and coaching personnel, collecting reports, updating trackers, referrals, includes regularly visiting the communities all health facilities and within the community.
• Holding meetings with Ministry of Health (MoH) staff and health facilities in-charges as per the monthly plan.
• Ensuring visits with the MoH Community Coordinator to health facilities and villages and providing support in the recruitment of CHWs as per the SOPs.
• Ensuring the cleanliness of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) areas and translating materials into local languages.
• Collecting and reporting any information related to the health situation of the population and patients to the IECHP manager, including tracking lost follow-ups, active case findings, and abscondees etc.
• Identifying gaps, challenges, and potential improvements, and reporting to the IEC/HP manager to ensure the smooth implementation of Health Promotion activities at health facilities and within the community.

Minimum Educational Qualification:
Desirable: Bachelor/Diploma in social sciences, social work, behavioral sciences, public health, community health, nursing. Essential: secondary school diploma.

Essential: At least 2 years’ experience in: • health promotion • team management experience • program implementation Experience in qualitative methodology is highly desirable.

Languages:
Mission language (English) and local language essential (Sawhili)
