Lake Cement Ltd is a specialist in cement manufacturing with a state-of-the-art fully integrated cement plant, with a captive 10MW thermal power plant. Our plant is located in the Kigamboni district of Dar es Salaam and has an installed capacity of 600,000 MT per annum. We produce consistent high quality cement for which we have leveraged best-in-class technologies and extensive sectoral experience. We started production in 2014 under the Nyati Cement brand.
Nyati Cementis now the leading cement brand not only in Tanzania, but also has prominence in Rwanda, Burundi and other neighboring countries.
Our integrated cement manufacturing unit, spread in an area of over 100 hectares, is the most modern, fully automated and energy-efficient plant of its kind in East Africa. The Plant, with a capacity of 500,000 Tons per annum, is located at Kimbiji village in Kigamboni District; just 45 km south of Dar es Salaam’s central business district. SNR Mining Engineer

POSITION: SNR MINING ENGINEER
DEPARTMENT: QUARRYING
REPORT TO: HOD EDUCATION
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must have good leadership and communication skills.
- Must have experience of short, medium and long-term planning in a large Limestone Quarry.
- Clear understanding of statutory and legal compliance in necessary. This includes Mines safety requirements and reporting requirements for Ministry of Energy and Minerals, NEMC.
- Knowledge of Quarry rehabilitation/ Mines Closure Plan is a must
- Ability to carry out Internal and External Mining Auditing.
- Competence in Mines and infrastructure design.
- Reporting and data analysis (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly)
- Waste dump design and Management.
- Competence in Earth Moving Equipment’s operation and maintenance
- Must have basic knowledge in Geology (Exploration, Evaluation and Production geology).
- Competence of Fleet Management and optimum utilization and ensure cost effective operations
- Good skill in survey instruments and volume computation.
- Must possess knowledge of Geotechnical issues.
- Competence in Managing Crusher operations and stock pile management to meet quality and quantity of Raw meal needed for cement plant operations.
- Ability to implement Mines Safety Management Plan and to ensure a safe and efficient mining operation.
- Any other job as assigned by HOD.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering from a reputed Universit
- Minimum 7-10 years of hand-on experience in operations of open pit limestone mining.
- Experience in operation of Surface Miner is desirable but not mandatory.

1. Candidate must have excellent track record,
2. positive attitude and must have a tendency to learn and adapt.
3. Should be able to lead a team and develop his juniors.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Able to understand Electrical power & control drawings
2. Maintenance of H.T Motors and Transformation
3. Maintenance of LRS/Stacker/Reclaimer
4. Fault tracing for Packer and Truck loading machine
5. Familiar with IMS requirements and documentation
6. Basic knowledge of Microsoft excel/word
7. To be able to handle shift duties as per LCL requirement
8. Familiar with Battery charger/UPS

Minimum 5 years of experience
