About CRS

CRS’ relief and development work are accomplished through programs of emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance, and peacebuilding.

Background:
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and its country-based partners Caritas Kigoma in Tanzania and Caritas Kasama in Zambia will implement the Vitalizing Opportunities in Circular Economy and Sustainable Solutions in Lake Tanganyika (VOICES) project to improve water quality in the basin of Lake Tanganyika through sustainable and inclusive economic practices funded by the European Union (EU). VOICES will support communities in Kigoma Region in Tanzania and in Mpulungu Region in Zambia to increase knowledge of the potential benefits of the circular economy among policymakers, businesses, consumers, and civil society. VOICES will support the objectives of the EU and building upon successes from other projects in the area. CRS will collaborate with ongoing projects in Tanzania and Zambia and advance cross border knowledge sharing among countries that border the Lake Tanganyika.

Job Summary:
CRS Tanzania is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Partnerships and Knowledge Management Officer for the “Vitalizing Opportunities in Circular Economy and Sustainable Solutions in Lake Tanganyika” (VOICES) project implemented in Tanzania and Zambia and located in KIGOMA Regions- CRS office. The role will entail fostering strategic partnerships and implementing effective knowledge management practices within the VOICES project. Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing partners, serving as the primary point of contact for partnership-related activities. Custodian of project-based agreements and contracts, ensuring mutual benefit and adherence to CRS policies. Develop and implement strategies to promote knowledge sharing and collaboration among internal teams and external partners. Facilitate the creation of communities of practice or other collaborative platforms to encourage the exchange of best practices, lessons learned, and innovative ideas within watershed project area.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide training and support to staff and partners on knowledge management tools and techniques, including document management systems, collaboration platforms, and data visualization tools.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the project area and partners by organizing workshops, webinars, and other learning events.
  • Develop and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness of partnerships and knowledge management initiatives. Regularly review and analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate key findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Contribute to the development of VOICES project plans and priorities, particularly in areas related to partnerships and knowledge management. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in partnership development and knowledge management, and incorporate relevant insights into organizational strategies.
  • Ensure VOICES project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices.

Basic Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field such as environmental partnership engagement, public private partnerships, education, business administration, international development, or knowledge management; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in partnership development, preferably in the nonprofit or international development sector.
  • Strong understanding of knowledge management principles and practices, including knowledge sharing platforms, communities of practice, and organizational learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyze complex problems, and develop innovative solutions.
  • Proficiency in project management and monitoring and evaluation techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Required Languages – English and Kiswahili will be preferred.

Travel – Must be willing and able to travel up to 50 %.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to make sound judgment and decisions and offer innovative solutions.
  • Strong relations management abilities. Ability to relate to people at all levels internally and externally. Strategic in how you approach each relationship.
  • Good presentation and facilitation skills
  • Proactive, resourceful, solutions-oriented, and results-oriented

Preferred Qualifications
  • Good experience in partnerships and knowledge management, including project design, preferably from multiple public donors.
  • Demonstrated ability to write high quality technical proposals.
  • Experience engaging with partner organizations.
  • MEAL skills and experience required.
  • Abilities that are conducive to a learning environment.
  • Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems.

Internal: County Manager, Head of Program, Head of Operations, Finance Manager, Project Manager, Head of Office-Kigoma, Technical Advisors, Operations staff.

External: Project Implementing Partners; Ministries, NEMC, Research Institutions, other NGO, and other relevant working groups.
