Catholic Relief Services is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. CRS works to save, protect, and transform lives in need in more than 100 countries, without regard to race, religion or nationality. CRS’ relief and development work are accomplished through programs of emergency response, HIV, health, agriculture, education, microfinance, and peacebuilding.
Background:
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and its country-based partners Caritas Kigoma in Tanzania and Caritas Kasama in Zambia will implement the Vitalizing Opportunities in Circular Economy and Sustainable Solutions in Lake Tanganyika (VOICES) project to improve water quality in the basin of Lake Tanganyika through sustainable and inclusive economic practices funded by the European Union (EU). VOICES will support communities in Kigoma Region in Tanzania and in Mpulungu Region in Zambia to increase knowledge of the potential benefits of the circular economy among policymakers, businesses, consumers, and civil society.
VOICES will support the objectives of the EU and building upon successes from other projects in the area. CRS will collaborate with ongoing projects in Tanzania and Zambia and advance cross border knowledge sharing among countries that border the Lake Tanganyika.
