KOFIH Tanzania Office in Dar es Salaam was officially opened in 2017 to implement various global health projects, although the cooperation with Tanzania first kicked off in 2009. KOFIH Tanznia Office, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and President’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PO-RALG) has devoted itself to the improvement of the healthcare system and led some projects such as the Maternal, Neonatal and Child Health Care project in Pwani and Dodoma Region, Hospital Management Technical Support Program for Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) Mloganzila Campus, Strengthening the National Public Health Laboratory through capacity building of infectious disease control and management, Dr LEE Jong-wook Fellowship Program, a training program for healthcare workers to build up their capacity which leads to contribution of achieving sustainable development goals and also training for biomedical engineers and technician for capacity enhancement of medical equipment services (CEOMETS). As KOFIH Office is expanding healthcare support projects, including the upcoming projects, KOFIH seeks a qualified candidates for the following position.

Job Title: Driver/Chauffeur
Location: Dar es salaam, Tanzania
* Duty station is subject to change depending on the terms of reference and the condition of the office
Position type: Contract-based / 3 months’ probation
Annual Salary: In accordance with the internal regulation

Job Summary
This job position is responsible for providing driving services and support staff in the assigned office to perform their daily planned activities. The driver will also be responsible for ensuring safety of the vehicle and the tools assigned and observing all current policies and procedures for driving motor vehicle. The Driver will be responsible in assisting and identifying any vehicle mechanical fault and services, and reporting any discrepancies noted for immediate action.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Perform all regular driving duties for the KOFIH Tanzania Office, ensuring timely transportation of staff and materials as required.
  • To ensure that familiarity with safety procedures relating to vehicle operation, travel and ensuring compliance with all relevant guidelines.
  • Take proactive measures to ensure the safety of passengers, including consistent use of seatbelts by both driver and occupants.
  • Maintain the vehicle in a clean and well-maintained condition, ensuring adequate fuel levels and conducting daily checks on essential components such as water, oil, battery, tires, and windscreen wipers, etc.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the vehicle and report any damages or losses immediately for appropriate action.
  • To accurately record all journeys made in the log sheets of the vehicle and maintain trip documentation routinely.
  • To observe and comply with all traffic regulations in Tanzania and speed limits.
  • Responsible for all equipment’s and tools on board on the vehicle and account for.
  • Complete deliveries, postal duties, and office errands as assigned, demonstrating efficiency and reliability in task execution.
  • Provide recommendations regarding vehicle maintenance schedules, repairs, and sourcing of genuine spare parts and accessories.
  • Perform any additional duties as required by the KOFIH Tanzania Office.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum 3 years working experience in the same position.
  • Responsible attitude and a mature understanding of the nature of the work.
  • Valid and relevant Driver’s License with clean driving records.
  • Certificate in Mechanics and experience with working in an international organization, Diplomatic Mission or NGO is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrates interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, self-motivated person, and sense of awareness.
  • Good work ethics and public etiquette and manner.
  • Fluent in Swahili and English.

Education
  • Form “IV” Certificate of the Secondary School Examination (CSEE) Education is a minimum requirement, Form “VI” Advanced Certificate for Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) is Preferred.
  • Driving college certificate (NIT, VETA etc.)
