Senior Manager; Corporate Banking (1 Position(s))

Job Purpose:
To lead Telecoms and Mining sector, providing leadership and support to Relationship Managers within the sector, to drive growth across Corporate Banking businesses while developing, improving, promoting, and selling NMBs products and services to ensure that NMBs current and future corporate customers find solutions for their financial needs.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage Relationship Managers to ensure that work standards, quality work and budgetary targets are set, achieved, and maintained within the sector.
  • Agree targets and take accountability for the overall achievement of performance objectives for the sector.
  • Manage the performance contribution of Relationship Managers through proper performance evaluation and feedback.
  • Identifying strengths and development areas and ensuring that Relationship Managers receive the requisite learning and skills development interventions.
  • Coaching and mentoring of Relationship Managers.
  • Manage the development of prudently priced assets, cost effective short and medium to long-term liability with reputable corporate companies and organizations to ensure the bank's maximum profitability.
  • Support Relationship Managers to gather information and first level review of the credit applications, memos, strategic reports to manage bank's and customers' expectations.
  • Maintain high quality of the asset book; ensure excellent performance and maximum returns of all clients within the sector.
  • Proactively manage the Telecoms & Mining Sector in compliance with regulatory environment, keeping up with the bank's guidelines, policies, and procedures to mitigate financial loss and fraud within the bank.
  • Maintain high standard of operational controls including adherence to Risk Management and Compliance guidelines.
  • Adhere to high professional standards and strive to provide quality services and competitive pricing to by ensuring delivery of sector-leading customer service, premier on-boarding experience, and advisory services to new and existing Customers.
  • Consult with staff in Risk, Credit, Legal and Compliance to ensure that Telecoms & Mining Sector remains credit worthy and within the policies of the bank.
  • Ensure Relationship Managers embed NMB values and code of conduct by ensuring adherence to the highest standards of ethics with relevant policies, processes, and regulations.
  • Fully participate in various bank's projects necessary for the bank's betterment in service provision to clients.
  • Attend/participate in various regular internal meetings to represent Corporate Banking.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Business understanding of bank's Telecoms & Mining sectors and market segments, products and services.
  • Knowledge of government policies relating to Telecoms and Mining, BOT regulations, bank policies and procedures.
  • Strong Leadership and Management Skills.
  • Strong Credit & products knowledge in Corporate Treasury, Cash Management, Trade Finance etc.
  • Corporate Relationship Management, Risk and Credit skills.
  • Strategic thinking, Strong analytical and planning skills.
  • Building positive working relationships, communication, team player, facilitating change, decision making, formal presentation, planning and organizing.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Geology/Mining, Telecoms Engineering, or related fields.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration or Business-related field is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience managing client relationships.

Senior Manager; Mass Liabilities (1 Position(s))

Job Purpose:
Provide leadership to ensure Personal Banking liabilities segment offers tailor-made solutions and products to meet the needs of the broad mass i.e., Youths, Groups, Employee, pensioners, etc., as well as development, and implementation of strategies to attract and retain customers across the network. In collaboration with cross functional teams, perform product and service reviews and optimization to enhance overall customer experience.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to attract and retain customers in the mass segments (youth, groups, employees & pensioners etc.) which makes a positive contribution to usage of banking products & services.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key stakeholders involved in the mass segments value chain.
  • Take a leading role in driving growth of mass deposits through effective implementation of deposits acquisition strategies, including targeted marketing campaigns and promotion
  • Team up with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, improve customer experience, and drive overall business success.
  • Conduct thorough market research and provide insights for informed decision making.
  • Monitor and manage risks related to liability portfolio, stay updated with industry regulations and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements as well as the Bank's internal policy, procedure, and manuals.
  • Regularly assess the performance of mass liabilities, identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the mass liabilities team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Motivate staff to ensure they are recognized through NMB recognition scheme.
  • Determine and manage Training Needs Analysis for all team members.
  • Continuously work to improve customer satisfaction by identifying pain points and implement strategies to enhance the overall customer experience.
  • Proactively nurture and leverage sustainable, robust stake holder relationships involved in mass segment value chain.
  • Prepare budget and projections for the products, including existing as well as prospective and potential clients. Co-ordinate budget objectives to respective areas of responsibilities and ensure targets are achieved as per approved budget.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Business acumen, strong understanding of financial principles
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mass deposits products and services
  • In-depth knowledge of the mass market, consumer behavior and industry trends
  • Capability to develop and execute strategic plans.
  • Sound understanding and ability to identify, assess and manage risks associated with liability products.
  • Knowledge of banking regulations and compliance standards relevant to liabilities
  • Familiarity with banking technology and digital trends to leverage innovative solutions for product delivery and customer engagements.
  • Sound understanding of customer needs and preferences within mass segment.

  • Ability to drive change in a new environment.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills to foster collaboration among cross-functional teams, presenting strategies and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
  • Good sales and negotiation skills.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, or other business-related studies
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in banking, preferable with focus on retail banking out of which 3 years is in a leadership role and also in relationship management and/or sales.
  • Candidates with strong acquisition or good networking background are preferred.
  • Experience working with NGOs or financial inclusion projects or business development fields will be of an added advantage.
