This position will be in support of HJF Medical Research International, Inc. Tanzania (HJFMRI) program.
Responsibilities
HJF Medical Research International, Inc. Tanzania (HJFMRI) is seeking to hire a Senior Technical Advisor, Pediatric and Adolescents HIV Care and Treatment . This position will provide clinical expertise and direction in the implementation and scaling-up of Pediatric & Adolescents HIV and EID services in the HJFMRI Tanzania SHL Program supported regions.The position will collaborate with Senior Technical Advisor, PMTCT & CECAP in scaling up PMTCT, Pediatric and adolescent care and treatment services to both PBFW, pediatric and adolescent populations. The position is part of a team of experts in scaling up HTS, TB/HIV, ART Services, and Supply chain management for pediatric and adolescents in the SHL Program supported regions. The position is based in Mbeya with frequent travels to Rukwa, Songwe, Katavi, and Mbeya regions. The position reports to the SHL Program Director.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all pediatric and adolescents HIV activities, including all pediatric HIV testing activities in the Southern Highlands (SHL) zone.
  • Coordinate the planning, initiation, and implementation of the Pediatric and adolescents HIV Care and Treatment program including integration of EID in the pediatric cascade of care.
  • Provide technical support to implementing partners in planning, budgeting, and supervision for pediatric HIV and Care activities.
  • Oversee agency-funded pediatric program activities and initiatives required to implement the HJFMRI Tanzania PEPFAR HIV SHL program.
  • Coordinate PEPFAR supported site staff trainings and mentorships in pediatric and adolescent HIV care and treatment services.
  • Assist in Pediatric HIV care and treatment program monitoring and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Program Managers, Regional Health Management Teams (RHMTs), Council Health Management Teams (CHMTs), and Hospital Management Teams (HMTs) in managing innovative strategies for improving the quality of pediatric and adolescent HIV services.
  • Collaborate with the CQI team to oversee quality improvement activities for pediatric and adolescent HIV care and treatment programs performance improvement in the SHL zone.
  • Collaborate with the M&E team to ensure pediatric and adolescent components are functional, including clarity of indicators, quality of M&E data collection tools, data quality and reporting.
  • Represent HJFMRI at Technical working groups, national and international meetings on Pediatric and adolescents HIV Care and Support when deemed necessary.
  • Coordinate and supervise pediatric and adolescent clinics at the facilities and ensure provision of quality services across the cascade.
  • Participate in GBV and VAC activities within Pediatric HIV care and treatment programs in the Southern Highlands zone.
  • Collaborate with Government stakeholders to strengthen the integration of Pediatric HIV care with the national goals.

  • This position will take place primarily in a office setting.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • In depth understanding of the Tanzania regulatory and business environment, health systems and administrative structures including working with the Regional Government (RC/RAS offices with the RHMT teams and DC/DED offices with the CHMT teams).
  • Demonstratable ability to write technical documents (proposal and reports) and give state-of-the-art presentations.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time in the SHL zone.
  • Analytical, problem solving and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship skills, including flexibility, diplomacy, intercultural communicative competence, and respect for colleagues.
  • Detail-oriented (attentive to details) and able to perform in a high-pressure environment.
  • Demonstrate high integrity and strong values, including confidentiality.
  • Ability to build and maintain sound relationships with multi stakeholders; competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to multitask and work under minimum supervision.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Ability to meet and communicate schedules and deadlines.
  • Fluent in Kiswahili and English.
  • Demonstratable exceptional professional judgment.

Education and Experience
  • Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) required. Master's degree in public health (MPH) preferred.
  • At least ten (10) years’ experience in pediatric and adolescent HIV/AIDS care and treatment programs required.
  • Clinical experience in pediatric HIV medicine required.
  • PEPFAR (DoD, USAID, or CDC) and experience working with international NGOs in a cross-cultural setting preferred.
