Data Analyst and Computer Technician (DACT)
HelpAge Tanzania (HAT) wishes to recruit a Data Analyst and Computer Technician that will be based in Dar Es Salaam with key relationships extending to Kigoma sub-office, key staff in implementing partner organizations and government key ministries that have MOU with HAT. The post will be managed by the Monitoring, Evidence and Learning Coordinator and will be linked to cross organizational project MEL and Administration sections. The post will support data analysis and learnings, provide technical IT support leading the implementation of our GDPR. Will support the MEL coordinator to compile cross-organizational and project specific MEL data for our key audiences to support our reporting and provide technical assistance to Kibondo and Dar Es Salaam office and partners to enable them to gather analyze and generate evidence for local, national, and regional advocacy. The DACT will also support the Office logistic Officer to maintain our office computers and other IT support needs as required. The location of this post may change depending on the evolving needs of HelpAge Programme.

Job purpose
The Data Analyst and Computer Technician will provide support on programme data analysis and learnings, IT technical support and proactively leading and implementation of our HAT Data Protection and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Person Specification
  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science. Any official training on Monitoring and evaluation and data management is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of 3 (Three) years demonstrated experience in planning, monitoring, and evaluation with reputed organizations, preferably with INGOs, donor agencies or international organizations, is required.
  • Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methods; study methodology, Tools for capturing knowledge and learnings, MEL tools and techniques, and application of computer software’s (MS Excel, SPSS, GIS, data visualization software) and monitoring devices is essential.
  • Excellent analysis and writing analytical quality report skills are crucial; Knowledge and use of Mobile data collection and visualization tools especially ODK, Kobo, Survey CTO and Power Bi is required.
  • Good communication skills and experience working with partners and donors; pro-activeness, positive attitude and professional integrity are required as well.
  • Ability to coach and mentor diverse partners across several regions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to short deadlines.
  • Communication, and reporting skills (verbal and written)
  • Demonstrable interest and knowledge in gender and ageing issues
  • Fluency in Kiswahili and English

Contract Period
is six months (6 Months) with potential for renewal.
