Role’s Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for preparing and implementing Financial Strategy, policies, procedures and financial control framework in order to ensure the achievement of financial objectives, controls and financial stability as well as leading Finance functions, including Financial /Management / Regulatory reporting, forecast and budgeting, Annual /periodic audits facilitation, taxation, Finance systems and funds management.

Role’s Summary:
The Chief Financial Officer will be responsible for preparing and implementing Financial Strategy, policies, procedures and financial control framework in order to ensure the achievement of financial objectives, controls and financial stability as well as leading Finance functions, including Financial /Management / Regulatory reporting, forecast and budgeting, Annual /periodic audits facilitation, taxation, Finance systems and funds management.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Business Management and Planning
- Preparing financial projections and budgets in line with the business plan and getting approval from the board of directors.
- To work with the finance department of KDT and KDT’s contracted companies to devise and prepare an annual budget and present it to the boards of each Company for review and approval at least 2 months before commencement of a new financial year.
- To assess potential investment opportunities, monitor investment performance and make recommendations to the CEO and boards of directors.
- Software implementation: by assisting the Group in selecting and implementing financial software to improve.
- Be responsible for Finance, Accounts and Taxation matters. Ensure that all accounting records are properly and timely maintained, reporting cycles and other associated engagements are successfully performed in an effective and timely manner in accordance with the regulatory and organizational requirements
- To improve the cost management framework and discipline to ensure sustainable cost savings.
- To support and constructively challenge the business functions to achieve their budgets, by developing performance measures that support the Group’s strategic direction
- To establishing and implementing internal controls and ensuring efficient and effective financial operations as per group benchmarks.
- Develop efficient operational processes, systems and data to underpin the organization’s finance activities and obligations delivered through agile technology and high-quality management information.
- Manage financial risk – acquainting with and complying with all relevant company’ required Governance, including policies documented in the Group code of business conduct, Finance department policy and other group SOPs.
- Maintaining effective relationships and coordination with key stakeholders including related entities and government bodies, improving external compliance and maintaining relations with external auditors, tax authorities and regulators to ensure the Group compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Manage the relationship with auditors, obtain necessary financial and legal advice to ensure all corporate legal, regulatory and compliance responsibilities are met, and oversee the risk management structure and process.
- To ensure that Financial and Accounting policies & procedures are in accordance with statutory regulations and The United Republic of Tanzania standards and complying with risk management and internal controls.
- To provide financial support to the Board, and Audit Committee, including overseeing preparation and quality control of financial reports.
- Be responsible for leading the finance team and ensuring that the team can effectively support the company’s financial operations.
- Work as a role model by providing leadership and mentorship to team members within the Finance Department and overall group.
- Work with P&C to identify, develop and position talent within the group to maximise value opportunities, improve mix of skills within the Finance Department.
- To establish clear succession and talent management strategies to ensure talent within the function have clear and rewarding career paths.
- To develop the team by training them, ensuring training and development needs are accommodated as well as help team members to identify strengths and weaknesses in their own skills and attributes, review their self-development plans and coach team members on planning, performance management and financial control.
- To ensure that the finance team has the necessary resources to meet the company’s financial goals, including technology and software.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL DETAILS
Education:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent, CPA / Chartered Accounting Qualification.
- Be generally computer literate, but have advanced experience with Microsoft software packages.

- Ten (10) years’ experience in the field with a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a reputable organization.
- Have exceptional communication skills in English (written and verbal) and be an effective communicator. Practical Swahili skills is an added advantage.
- Be organised and systematic and have a real commitment to meeting tight reporting deadlines.
- Be a positive person with a caring approach to people, decent and sound values and a positive orientation to life.
