Silverleaf Academy is a chain of affordable private pre-primary and primary schools, educating children aged 2-14. Our mission is to provide lower-middle income urban families with highest quality learning at the most affordable levels. Using the national Tanzanian curriculum, Silverleaf schools deploy an inclusive, tech-supported curriculum inside every classroom, and adopt an innovative team-teaching approach and in-service training program. Our schools are specifically designed to build both student academic competencies and wider life, leadership and learning skills.

It is our promise to our students and their parents that Silverleaf students will not leave school without full mastery of the basic skills of writing, reading and math, while also being prepared for a world where critical thinking, team collaboration, and entrepreneurship are paramount. Silverleaf Academy believes that quality education should be accessible to every child. Silverleaf currently has one fully operational campus in Usa River serving approximately 380 pre-primary to standard 7 students. By the end of 2024, the target is to grow the Usa River campus to 900 daycare up to standard 7 students.
In addition, the organization will set the foundation for acquisition of two new campuses serving a further 500 students by 2025.

For this rapid growth and scaling phase, the organization requires a team of senior managers and experts to develop and codify “The Silverleaf Standard” – a framework for delivery of exceptional teaching and learning across the Silverleaf Academy network in lower-middle income urban and peri-urban contexts in Tanzania. This will initially use the Usa River campus as a flagship school and testing ground from which to launch.

Role
The main purpose of School Assistant is to be the main point of customer contact between parents and the school.

Responsibilities
1. Greet and welcome visitors, students, and parents in a friendly and professional manner.
2. Answer and direct incoming calls to the appropriate personnel or department.
3. Manage the front desk area, ensuring it is tidy, organized, and well-maintained.
4. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the academy’s programs, services, and activities to provide accurate information to visitors.
5. Handle incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and deliveries efficiently.
6. Assist with scheduling appointments and managing calendars for faculty and staff.
7. Register new students and maintain updated student records in the database.
8. Coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth communication and operations.
9. Provide administrative support, including typing, filing, and data entry tasks.
10. Handle general inquiries and address concerns or complaints professionally and promptly.

KPIs
1. Average wait time for visitors at the front desk.
2. Number of successfully routed calls to the correct personnel or department.
3. Accuracy and completeness of student records and registration information.
4. Customer satisfaction ratings based on feedback from visitors, parents, and staff.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in office administration is a plus.
  • Proven experience as an Assistant or in a related customer service role
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with a courteous and professional demeanor.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using office equipment such as phone systems, computers, and printers.
  • Familiarity with office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and the ability to learn new software quickly.

Role
The Human Resources and compliance Coordinator at Silverleaf Academy is entrusted with fostering a harmonious and productive work environment for our diverse team of over 6 0 professionals across multiple sites. This pivotal role is dedicated to optimizing HR operations, ensuring compliance with labor regulations, and championing employee well-being. By overseeing critical functions such as payroll, performance assessments, recruitment, and staff welfare, the Coordinator plays a key role in the growth and success of the organization. Through meticulous record-keeping, policy enforcement, and insightful analytics, they facilitate a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Performance Indicators
1.Training Hours per Employee: number of hours of training and development for each employee.
2.Employee Satisfaction Index: Employee contentment and engagement within the organization.
3.Turnover Rate: percentage of employees who leave the organization over a specific period.
4.Time-to-Fill Vacancies: Average amount of time it takes to fill open positions within the organization.
5.Compliance with HR Policies: Extent to which employees adhere to HR policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
1.Payroll Management: Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll in compliance with local regulations and organizational policies. Maintain payroll records, including tax deductions, benefits, and leave balances.
2.Performance Appraisals: Develop, implement, and manage an effective performance appraisal system. Provide guidance to managers and employees on performance evaluation processes.
3.Recruitment and Hiring: Coordinate the recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, advertising, shortlisting candidates, and conducting interviews. Oversee onboarding and orientation processes for new hires.

Skills and Attributes
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Role

The Academic Dean is responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for academic programs, for developing and implementing academic policies and procedures, overseeing faculty and staff, and working to ensure the success of students. The Academic Dean will play a key role in expanding the school to three campuses by standardizing curriculum, coaching teachers, mentoring teachers, standardizing positive reinforcement, and adding technology.

Key Performance Indicators
1. Student-Centered Learning Proficiency: Percentage of students actively engaged in inquiry-based, collaborative, and personalized learning experiences.
2. Student Academic Achievement Rate: Percentage of students achieving or exceeding grade-level proficiency in core subjects.
3. Life Skills Mastery Rate: Percentage of students demonstrating proficiency in critical life skills, including empathy, problem-solving, and communication.

Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership:
  • Develop and implement strategic education plans for all schools across the Silverleaf network, aligned with Silverleaf’s mission and core values.
  • Identify and assess new academic programs and initiatives, including those that integrate technology.
  • Work with the CEO to develop and implement budget and resource allocation plans for the academic division.
2. Curriculum Development and Implementation:
  • Develop and implement a standardized curriculum across all three campuses, ensuring that it is aligned with best practices and meets the needs of all students.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans and assessments that integrate tablets and technology hubs into classrooms.
  • Monitor the implementation of the curriculum and make adjustments as needed.
3. Teacher Coaching and Mentoring:
  • Coach and mentor teachers to ensure that they are delivering high-quality instruction, including using technology effectively in the classroom.
  • Provide feedback and support to teachers on their lesson plans, assessments, teaching methods, and use of technology.
  • Develop and implement professional development programs for teachers on how to use technology in the classroom.
4. Positive Reinforcement:
  • Standardize positive reinforcement practices across all three campuses, creating a positive and supportive learning environment for students.
  • Develop and implement a system for tracking and rewarding student achievement, including the use of technology.
  • Train teachers on positive reinforcement strategies.
5. Technology:

  • Manage the academic division’s budget and resources.

  • Build and codify intellectual property of the organization concerning education model delivery across schools in Tanzania.

Basic Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education or a related field
  • 7+ years of experience in an academic leadership role in international contexts

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
