About Lion Landscapes:
Lion Landscapes is an international non-governmental organization with operations in Iringa. We strive to reduce human wildlife conflict, especially with carnivores, and encourage peaceful coexistence. We believe that by working in the areas adjacent to protected areas we can initiate projects that bring benefits from the presence of the wildlife. This will help to reduce conflict between humans and wildlife while simultaneously assisting the communities to meet their development needs.

Lion Landscapes
has an opportunity for an administration internship. Candidates will gain experience in administrative operations and duties at a medium size non-government organization. Candidates will gain skills in human resources, financial management and accountability, inventory and stock management, as well as gaining experience working with a diverse team.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with the Operations Manager:
(a) Financial duties– working with Operations Manager and field staff to track budgets, consolidate monthly accounting, submitting receipts to the accounting system, and summarizing expenditure for any reports or as needed. Comply with established internal control practices and procedures to ensure proper management of financial transactions
(b) Human resource activities – Assists in benefits administration and maintenance, assists in administering and updating employee benefits.
(c) Inventory and stock management- Assist in maintaining inventory for all field equipment, camp supplies and garage supplies
(d) Financial audits– auditing purchases and conducting vendor selection based off of Lion Landscape’s procurement policy
(e) Other logistics – regularly checking Lion Landscape’s inventory of equipment; regularly checking all equipment for damage or loss; requesting new equipment or repairs as needed
(f) Visitors- make sure all visitors are signing visitors book

Applicant requirements:
● A Tanzanian citizen
● Skilled in the use of common computer software such as Microsoft Excel and Word
● Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to fit in well amongst, and effectively manage, a team of diverse people.
● Strong writing and verbal communications skills
● Proven ability to live and work happily in a remote field camp under very basic conditions
(i.e. living in a tent with no running water, intermittent power, and the presence of wild animals in the local area)
● High proficiency of English and Swahili
● Demonstrated personal qualities of integrity, attention to detail, strong professionalism, investing in people, credibility, and commitment to Lion Landscape’s conservation mission.
● A strong team player that can also lead and work independently.

Desired skills:
● Certificate or training in human resources a major advantage

Duration: This internship will be for one month.

This position will be at a field camp in the Iringa Region. The position is unpaid though a small stipend will be provided and all travel costs will be reimbursed.
