PART-TIME Information Technology Consultant
Information Technology Consultant at Maternity Africa October, 2023
Maternity Africa is seeking to recruit an Information Technology Consultant on a part-time contract, initially of two days per week on a self-employed consultancy basis. The successful candidate will:
- Work closely with Maternity Africa’s Senior Management Team, advising how to use information technology systems effectively and efficiently and, where necessary, to improve them;
- Provide strategic advice and day-to-day guidance and user-training in connection with Maternity Africa’s technology and IT infrastructures; and
- Other tasks in connection with the computerized Health Management System (HMS), CCTV system administration, phone network management, printer and peripheral support, security and compliance, documentation and reporting.
Key tasks
- Clarify and document Maternity Africa’s system specifications, IT inventory and IT work practices, including backups, data security and internet-based systems.
- Analyse Maternity Africa’s IT requirements and give independent and objective advice on the use of IT.
- Define software, hardware and network requirements.
- Develop agreed solutions and implement new systems.
- Design, test, install and monitor new systems.
- Organise and deliver IT user training for users.
- Maintain and administer the hospital’s health management system (HMS), ensuring data integrity and system reliability.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to customize and optimize the HMS to meet specific clinical needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to the HMS, including user access and data security.
- Oversee the hospital’s CCTV surveillance system, ensuring continuous monitoring and recording of critical areas.
- Perform regular CCTV system maintenance, including camera calibration and software updates.
- Investigate and provide footage for security incidents and investigations as needed.
- Manage the hospital’s phone network infrastructure, including Voice over Internet Phone (VoIP) systems.
- Ensure reliable connectivity and communication services for hospital staff.
- Troubleshoot and resolve phone system issues and user inquiries.
- Maintain and support the hospital’s networked printers and peripheral devices.
- Monitor and replenish printer supplies, such as toner and paper.
- Troubleshoot and resolve printer-related problems.
- Implement security measures to safeguard patient data and sensitive information.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare industry regulations in all IT operations.
- Conduct regular IT security audits and assessments.

- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and user access.
- Generate and present reports on system performance and incident resolution.
- Maintain internet connectivity and troubleshoot as required.
Essential minimum qualifications and experience
- Holder of Bachelor Degree in Information Technology or related subject from a recognized institution/university.
- A minimum of three years of IT consulting or similar experience.
Other necessary qualities

- Excellent communication skills, including demonstrated ability to communicate complex information simply and engagingly.
- Able to keep confidential information.
- Fluent in Kiswahili, English and other local language(s).
- Well organized, with logical approach to decision making.

- Self-starter and able to work on own initiative.
- Able to work as part of a small team.

Temporary/Part-Time Driver

Maternity Africa is seeking to recruit a Driver on a part-time agreement for a specific period.
The successful candidate will:
Main duties and Responsibilities
- To provide a professional and caring service for all patients whilst in the care of Medical Services
- To ensure that at all times patient safety remains paramount and that safe systems of work are adhered to regarding wheel chairs, clamps, seat belts etc.
- At all times follow Organisational Standing Operational Procedures for the collection, transport and handover of patients.
- Keeping the interior and exterior of the vehicle in a clean and tidy state.
- Carry out risk assessments to assess hazards, then implement safe systems of work and reduce risks to yourself, patients and other persons involved.
- Complete a vehicle check before every duty including the working order of the vehicle.
- Report defects and deficiencies of the vehicle and equipment, and replace all items of vehicle inventory used.
- Providing social care in non-emergency situations.
- To maintain the vehicle and equipment in accordance with the organisations infection control policy.
- Ensure a vehicle accident pack is kept on board the vehicle at all times and report any vehicle damage in accordance with company policy and procedures.
- It is of primary importance that the speed limit is adhered to in all cases, and that driving is safe and the patient is comfortable.
Qualifications and Requirement
- Must have at least O-level (Secondary Level) education.
- Relevant driving qualifications from National Institute of Transportation (NIT).
- Must have Motor Vehicle Mechanics training and experience.
- Good interpersonal skills, with a caring and polite manner
- Must have a valid Tanzanian driving licence
- 3+ relevant working experience
