Plan International Tanzania Jobs, 2023
Country Director at Plan International Tanzania September, 2023
Date: 18 Sep 2023
Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Company: Plan International
The Organisation
Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it’s girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.
We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood. And we enable children to prepare for – and respond to – crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.
We have been building powerful partnerships for children for over 85 years, and are now active in more than 80 countries.

The Opportunity
Our global strategy “All girls standing strong creating global change” has a specific focus on girls, as they are often the most marginalised and most often left behind. We have committed ourselves to the ambitious target of reaching 200 million girls over 5 years, to ensure they can learn, lead, decide and thrive. This is our contribution to reaching the sustainable development goals, and in particular the goals on gender equality in both humanitarian and development settings. Our organisation is transforming itself to meet the enormous challenge everywhere we work. We need bold, forward-thinking, and innovative individuals to lead our country operations, driving change and delivering results that will allow us to reach our target of 200 million girls.
Plan International has been working in Tanzania since 1991, helping vulnerable children, young people, and their families to break the cycle of poverty. Plan Tanzania's country office is located within Dar es Salaam and 5 Program Units (PUs) in 8 regions. Plan is involved in humanitarian programming in the Burundian refugee camps in Kigoma region. Plan International Tanzania also works with other stakeholders in various projects countrywide. Plan International Tanzania has embraced a partnership model and works with 20+ partners at both local and national levels.
Plan International’s Country Strategy goal is to make significant contributions so that Girls enjoy better protection from Child Early and Forced Marriage. This will be achieved with three gender transformative, integrated and mutually supportive programs:
- Education and Youth Economic Empowerment (YEE):
- Adolescent sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) and maternal new born and child health and nutrition (MNCHN):
- Protection from Violence:
