We are looking for a Business and Accounting Officer (BAO) who will play a key role in driving the growth and success of the company. You will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing and maintaining relationships with key clients and partners, managing the company’s financial bookkeeping, and implementing strategies to help achieve the company’s sales and revenue goals.

About The Chanzo Initiative
The Chanzo Initiative, or simply The Chanzo, is a multimedia company based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, established in 2020 that operates in line with media and company regulations. The company functions around journalistic works and offers media consultancy services.
In journalistic works, The Chanzo has been known for going beyond the news through analysis and reports that look at issues in-depth and using creative short videos, audio and infographics to tell stories that simplify complex topics for wider audiences. Job Description
The Business and Accounting Officer (BAO) will be responsible for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing and maintaining relationships with key clients and partners, managing the financial bookkeeping of the company and implementing strategies to help achieve the company’s sales and revenue goals. He’ll report to the company’s Managing Editor.

Specific duties include:
- Develop and implement business strategies to achieve revenue growth and margin expansion.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities for the company.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key clients and partners.
- Create, monitor, and report on key performance metrics to determine business efforts’ effectiveness and anticipated client needs.
- Monitor industry trends and market conditions.
- Maintaining financial records, preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting and tax laws.
- Preparing budgets, monitoring expenditures and profits and providing reports.
- Assist with special projects and tasks as requested.
