2. Provide reliable driving services to authorized WFP staff members, officials, and visitors as per authorized routing following UN safety and security rules and regulations.
3. Collect and deliver goods, mails, documents, and other items.
4. Maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior of the assigned vehicle to ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in good running condition.
5. Maintain inventory of the vehicle, items and spares, verification and carry out handover of the vehicle.
6. Perform daily inspection of the vehicle or assigned means of transport, Check oil, water, battery, brake, tires, wipers, lights, communication equipment, spanners, jacks, fuel etc.
7. Refuel the vehicle when necessary or when the tank is half.

8. Identify report and collaborate with Finance and Admin. Assist on any defects, suspected defects, damage, loss or worn-out condition of any part of the assigned means of transport or of its equipment tools or accessories, rectify minor problems and arrange for other repairs and replacement of defective part when required.
9. Log official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing etc; and request staff transported to sign for route/mileage undertaken.
10. Ensure that vehicles are always secured from loss or damage.
11. Verify that all passengers in the vehicle have safety belts fastened before proceeding to next destination.
12. Maintain regular contact with radio room as agreed prior departure and according to the security Standard procedures while on Mission and respond to any call made by the radio room.
13. Ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
14. Perform other related duties as required.

These jobs are found in Regional Bureaus (RBs), Country Offices (COs), Area Offices (AOs) and Field Offices (FOs). Job holders report to the Administration Officer, Logistics Officer or the designate, and drive light vehicles, trucks, vans, motorcycles, or any other type of land transport. They may also be assigned to operate speed boats or other types of watercrafts. The job may involve basic administrative assistance in the office or stores.
JOB PURPOSE
To provide efficient and safe transportation of authorized personnel and/or commodities.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1.
Drive any means of transport (light vehicle, tractor, truck,
motorcycle, etc) for the transport of authorised WFP staff member,
visitors, goods, mails etc. Education:
- Completion of secondary school education. Formal drivers training with a valid driver’s license/certification to operate assigned vehicle following local rules and regulations.
- Two or more years of work experience as a Driver, preferably in an international organization, embassy, or UN system with a demonstrated safe driving record. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans, trucks, and other kinds of motorized vehicles. Experience in defensive driving is desirable.
- Fluency (level C) in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, chauffeur protocol and courtesies, local roads/waterways and conditions, and security issues.
- Knowledge of the vehicle loading capacity and other parameters. • Knowledge of driving/boat operating rules and regulations whichever applicable.
- Knowledge of safety standards and safety equipment (e.g., fire extinguishers, buoyant wearable safety devices, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Basic skills to assist in case of emergency, knowledge of first aid basic methods.
- Knowledge and ability to use radio, email, telephone, and other applications.
- Ability to assess vehicles for mechanical fitness and skills in minor vehicle repairs.
- Ability to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, and tact.
