Founded in 1956, The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities – in more than 40 countries around the world. DRC has been implementing emergency response projects in Tanzania since the onset of the Burundi refugee crisis in 2015 in three refugee camps in the Kigoma Region at the border with Burundi. DRC’s integrated projects for refugees, asylum seekers and host communities comprise sectors such as Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Protection, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Shelter and infrastructure, General Food Distribution (GFD), Gender Based Violence (GBV), People with Special Need (PSN, Child Protection (CP) and Livelihoods.

Overall purpose of the role:
Provide entry point management of office, monitor the overall safety situation and implement safety regulations and safety plans as designated by the safety team.

Geographic Scope: Base
This role has a base focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines at base level. The role contributes to the development of base strategies, which are translated into action plans and day -to day tasks.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure security of DRC staff and property
  • Secure DRC facilities including all the vehicles parked in the area
  • Patrol facilities regularly when it is not occupied, especially at night
  • Control access to DRC facilities
  • Assist in loading/unloading vehicles
  • Assist in keeping the facility and street outside clean.
  • Enforce DRC’s no weapons policy
  • Welcome visitor; ensuring the visitor’s book is signed and direct visitors to the office
  • Switch on/off generator and water pumps as required
  • Report any security incident to the safety team
  • Follow DRC security guidelines
  • Monitoring the cameras (CCTV)

Qualifications and Experience
Education background:
  • Form IV or Standard Seven.
  • Safety or Security Training.

Essential Experience
  • At least 2 years' experience in a similar position, ideally in an NGO or UN Agency
  • Basic English proficiency
  • Fluency in local language

What we offer
Contract:
1 Year Contract with the possibility of extension, subject to funding and performance.
Salary: in accordance with the Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment Management Band/ I.
Availability: 15th January 2023.
Duty station: Kasulu, Tanzania
Reporting Line: HR&Admin Team Leader Kibondo region
