Position Title SALES & DISTRIBUTION MANAGER
Reports To MANAGING DIRECTOR
Work StationDAR ES SALAAM
Job Function
The job holder will be responsible for managing all company sales activities within a defined geographical territory to achieve revenue targets.
He/ She must be prepared to make informed decisions and pursue performance improvement in order to maintain effective operations, often working beyond the product supply chain, overseeing inventory management as well.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. SALES
1.1 Proactively inspects sales activity and effort among sales staff managed, ensuring that the quality and quantity of sales effort meets company expectations.
1.2 Works with market management to ensure market-level strategic and business objectives are met by the sales team.
1.3 Monitoring, evaluating and advising on Brand/segment volume, trends and dynamics.
1.4 Leads forecasting efforts among the team managed, ensuring that accurate forecasts are completed on a timely basis
1.5 Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer requirements and satisfaction by engaging key customer accounts in conjunction with sales personnel managed. Provides a management-level point of contact for key customers. Builds and maintains strong customer relationships.
2. DISTRIBUTION
2.1 Set distribution goals, plan and manage distribution operations to achieve set goals
2.2 Creating, implementing and managing strategies and processes to guarantee all products, incoming and outbound, are sent and received on time.
2.3 Supporting procurement manager to achieve optimal re-ordering
2.4 Overseeing inventory security
2.5 Implement health and safety procedures

3.1 Oversee daily routes and improve route plans to ensure timely deliveries
3.2 Ensure safe transport of all products
3.3 Ensure that company transport vehicles are maintained in good working conditions
4. FINANCIAL
4.1 Perform cost negotiations with vendors and provide appropriate solutions for bulk distributions.
4.2 Develop distribution budgets and manage expenses within the budgets.
4.3 Develop cost reduction initiatives while maintaining productivity and quality.
5. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
5.1 Identifies deficiencies in skills among sales staff managed, and works to improve individuals’ capabilities through coaching, development, and training.
5.2 Monitor team performances and provide feedback for improvements.

1. PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
a. Bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing or equivalent
2. PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
a. Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
b. Effective Training, people development, Coaching and feedback orientation
c. People Management Skills
d. Team building and motivation
e. Good communicator (written, oral and presentation)
f. Excellent commercial acumen
g. Financial and planning skills including budgeting and cost management
h. Administration/time management specifically ability to meet tight deadlines and high outcome – oriented business environment
i. Problem solving and analysis
j. Project management knowledge
k. Engagement and Influencing skills (Stakeholder and people)
l. High degree of Sales force automation literacy
m. Previously demonstrated success in Sales and Distribution.
n. At least 3 years commercial (sales) role in FMCGs
o. Efficient in general Microsoft Office and e-mail
