Currently, we are seeking suitably qualified candidates to fill in Technical Officer SBCC (COVID) – Dar es salaam for its EpiC project in Tanzania.

The Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) is a 5-year global project funded by the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), dedicated to achieving and maintaining HIV epidemic control. The project provides strategic technical assistance and direct service delivery to break through barriers to 95-95-95 and promote self-reliant management of national HIV programs by improving HIV case-finding, prevention, and treatment programming. In Tanzania, EpiC will be implementing an HIV service delivery project among key and priority populations, adolescent girls and young women; and orphans and vulnerable children which aims to reduce HIV infections in pursuit of reaching 95-95-95 goals. To achieve this goal, the program will support targeted prevention and case finding strategies at community level amongst the targeted populations.

Job Description

Supporting the design and development of SBCC and capacity strengthening materials and project documentation, including USAID deliverable reports.

Main Function/Responsibilities

  • Develop plans for sharing development knowledge through communications, outreach, and training within the project and its various offices as well as with the client, the public health, and SBCC community locally and globally.
  • Provide advice and guidance in areas of outreach, communication, and training to partners, local government, and local organizations.
  • Coordinate outreach and communications training activities.
  • Coordinate and write project reports, newsletters, success stories, and briefs.
  • Develop a knowledge management use and dissemination plan to guide the project, including use of social media
  • Organize public events such as conferences, meetings, promotions, and presentations.
  • Manage development and dissemination of training materials, media guides, counseling cards, flipcharts, commodities instructions and inserts, brochures, booklets, etc.
  • Develop marketing and outreach materials; provide writing, editing, desktop publishing, and publication support.
  • Update and maintain shared systems/processes, such as mailing lists (electronic and physical), online project management systems, and calendars.
  • Attend meetings, prepare and distribute notes and monitor follow-up items.
  • Write and edit project documents
  • Develop branding and marketing plan and guidance

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communication, public health or related field and 5-7 years of relevant experience; or Master’s Degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • At least 4 years’ experience of supporting SBCC and knowledge management projects in Tanzania, including design and development of pre-tested, locally appropriate SBCC materials and/or knowledge management
  • Expertise and experience in a senior capacity working with print, mass media, ICTs and other electronic media required.
  • Strong communication and writing skills required
  • Ability to work independently and manage a high volume of work flow
  • Relevant computer software skills, including at a minimum MS word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
