All four key positions described below are subject to and contingent upon receiving donor funding and approval and may be adjusted as required prior to finalization. The key personnel team will be expected to collaborate and coordinate with WEI/Bantwana's country office in Arusha, Tanzania and the home office in the US. This includes regular consultation and communication with Boston-based technical and finance staff as well as with WEI’s Country Director, Senior program staff, and HR/Admin team who operate out of Arusha, with reports to both offices, as may be directed.

Position: Project Director
Position Overview:
The Project Director is a senior level position that will provide overall leadership and managerial oversight of project implementation, including supervision of project staff and collaboration with the government and other organizations and stakeholders, to ensure effective service delivery. The selection of the applicant is subject to donor approval. Position contingent upon donor funding.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
The position shall provide technical leadership and direction to the project in alignment with project objectives, technical standards and deliverable schedule; S/he shall serve as the primary liaison between WEI/Bantwana the project, the primary donor and other donors/implementing partners working within the Zanzibar educational system; S/he will develop high-quality technical reports and deliverables for timely submission to the donor; S/he will participate in sound overall management of project implementation, in coordination with technical, monitoring and evaluation and finance staff, to ensure technical quality coordination of services and shall ensure project compliance with donor requirements, policies and regulations and oversee a team of 5 – 8 full time staff and any project consultants.

Qualifications:
At least 10+ years in education systems improvement, including learner-centered pedagogies, formative assessment, capacity-building, training, community participation, and monitoring systems; 5+ years in a managerial/supervisory role; must have a master’s degree in education, development, or related field; deep knowledge of Zanzibar and Tanzania mainland development context; excellent communication skills in English and in Swahili; self-starting team-player committed to participatory and inclusive approaches.
Position: Deputy Project Director - Programming
Position Overview:
The Deputy Project Director - Programming will provide effective technical leadership of project implementation to ensure high quality service delivery. This position will report to the Project Director.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will provide technical leadership and direction to the project in alignment with project objectives, technical standards and deliverable schedule; S/he shall coordinate with the main donor and other funders/implementing partners working within the Zanzibar educational system; will also support development of high-quality technical reports and deliverables for timely submission to the donor; will ensure project compliance with donor requirements, policies and regulations and provide supervision support to the Project Manager for a team of 5 – 8 full time staff and consultants.

Qualifications:
7+ years in education systems improvement, including learner-centered pedagogies, formative assessment, capacity-building, community participation, and monitoring systems; 3+ years in a managerial/supervisory role; must have a Master’s degree in education, development, or related field; deep knowledge of Zanzibar and Tanzania mainland education/development context; excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and solid working knowledge of Swahili; self-starting team-player committed to participatory and inclusive approaches.
