Location Overview
Tabora Region is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions. The regional capital is the municipality of Tabora. According to the 2012 national census, the region had a population of 2,291,623, which was lower than the pre-census projection of 2,539,715 . For 2002–2012, the region's 2.9 percent average annual population growth rate was the ninth-highest in the country. It was also the 24th-most-densely-populated region with 30 people per square kilometre. The region's average household size of 6.0 persons was the third-highest in the country.

It is bordered to the north by Shinyanga Region, to the east by Singida Region, to the south by Mbeya Region, to the southwest by Katavi Region, to the west by Kigoma Region, and to the northwest by Geita Region. With a size of 76,151 square kilometres (29,402 sq mi), the region is slightly larger than Panama (75,417 square kilometres (29,119 sq mi)). Therefore, with its 76,151-square-kilometre (29,402 sq mi) size, Tabora Region is Tanzania's largest region by area. Forest reserves cover 34,698 square kilometres (13,397 sq mi) (46% of the region), and game reserves cover 17,122 square kilometres (6,611 sq mi) (22% of the region). Most economic activity in the region is agricultural.

Igunga District
Igunga is one of the seven districts of the Tabora Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by the Shinyanga Region, to the east by the Singida Region, to the south by the Uyui District and to the west by the Nzega District. Its administrative seat is the town of Igunga. Igunga is now divided by two Constituencys: Igunga Constituency and Manonga Constituency, whereby Manonga town is Choma Chankola.

Paved Trunk road T3 from Morogoro to Rwanda passes through the district from east to west.
