Vacancy: Field Supervisor-Adolescents Empowerment Project

Job Summary
The Organization for Community Development (OCODE) is a grassroots
national nongovernmental organization that works to improve lives of
less privileged Tanzanians. It was established in 1999, registered in
2003 under the Society Ordinance Act of 1954 and complied with the NGO
Act of 2002 in March 2011. The current OCODE’s focus is on supporting
and facilitating communities realize quality basic education for
children, improve community livelihood and youth empowerment. OCODE in
partnership with Stromme Foundation is implementing a twelve-month cycle
BONGA Project that empowers out of school adolescents aged 13-19 years
who, due to various reasons, did not progress in the formal education
system. The project enables the girls/boys to become productive and
respected members of the society as opposed to being considered burden
to their families when they remain vulnerable in the streets.
Recommended:
The
project targets girls/boys who did not make it to secondary schools,
those who drop out of school due to early pregnancy, marriage and other
difficult life circumstances. The first six months of the cycle are used
for training the girls/boys on important life skills and matters that
build their confidence and self-esteem. The last four months are used
for vocational skills training based on each adolescents preference
after undergoing selection, planning and management training. At the end
of the cycle, the girls/boys are provided with startup kits to start
income generating activities based on the vocational skills they
undertook. The life skills and vocational skills training enable the
girls to be knowledgeable, skillful and employable.
Job Description
In that respect OCODE is therefore looking for a very committed and highly motivated
Tanzanian young lady aged 24-28years to fill in a position of a Project Field Supervisor
Reporting: The Project Field supervisor will be reporting to the Program Manager Work Station: Dar es Salaam Contract
Duration: One year with possibility of extension based on performance
Main responsibilities:
- Overall in charge of adolescent girls centers that are supervised by animators
- Review project budget needs in line with an agreed project plan in collaboration with the Community Livelihood Manager and ensure all project expenditures are in line with project budgets
- Ensure animators are timely and regular present at the centers
- Ensure animators conduct Bonga according to the Bonga-Process/steps
- Provide technical support to animators in running the centers
- Ensure animators monitor implementation of girls self-determined promises and community outreach activities
- Ensure close relation and constant communication with animators and Bonga support teams
- Maintain internal and external environment of the centers
- Monitor proper use and storage of the materials
- Participate in Selection, Planning and Management training and Income Generating Activities (IGA) selection and running process for the girls Keep OCODE updated on Out of school adolescents life skills and vocational skills training related matters in the area and country at large
- Participate in monthly and evaluation meeting of BST and Bonga project with animators
- Take part in resource mobilization (fundraising) of the organization
- Ensure timely preparations and submission of quality monthly and quarterly reports to Community Livelihood Manager

Required qualities
- Bachelor Degree in Social sciences or any related field
- Previous experience with an NGO is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili languages (written and Spoken)
- Computer literate including good command of Microsoft Office
- Good understanding of adolescent issues
