30,675 students in Tanzania Have been allocated for HESLB loans 2019/20
The Higher Education Student Loan Board (HESLB) in Tanzania said 30,675 students out of 45,000 first-year students in 2019/20 who applied for credit for the first phase have received.

Speaking
on Thursday, October 17, 2019, the board’s CEO, Abdul-Razaq Badru, said
a total of Sh113 billion has been allocated for the students and the
money the Government has already given to the board is Sh125 billion.

She said among the list were 11,043 female students equivalent to 36 percent and males were 19,632 equivalent to 64 percent.
However,
he said the list for the second phase will be announced on October
25,2019 after completing a credit application analysis from delayed
students completing the eligibility procedures and reviewing their
online loan application.

He said funds for students who have successfully secured loans will be sent to colleges in advance before they can be opened.
“In
this academic year the government has allocated Sh450 billion aimed at
benefiting a total of 128,285 students of whom over 45,000 are first
year students and another 83,285 are continuing creditors,” he said.
