Job Summary
HIHEA (TZ) is seeking a highly qualified individual/consultancy firm to review its training manual, initially developed and used in Kenya, and adapt its content to the Tanzanian context in order to increase its relevance and impact for HIHEA (TZ) beneficiaries. These beneficiaries are mainly rural women and youth aged 18-35 and living in Northern Tanzania.

Job Description
The Hand in Hand enterprise and job creation approach is based on a philosophy of self-help, providing  training, skills and support to enable poor people, particularly women and community in general , to build and sustain independent, market-based, economic activities. This provides for a higher level of income for them and their families, which in turn contributes to greater food security, better education for their children, increased access to healthcare, improved housing and overall improved livelihoods. 

The model is based on a tried and tested approach to job creation using four interlinked components: 
1. Social mobilisation; 
2. Business training; 
3. Access to credit and 
4. Linking entrepreneurs to markets. 

Seven (7) training modules act as guides and references for the Business Relationship Officers (HIHEA  (TZ) trainers) as they train members/beneficiaries. The modules are:
1. Group Formation training module
2. Savings/Resource Mobilization training module
3. Enterprise Development training module
4. Financial Management training module
5. Credit Access training module
6. Value-chain Management training module
7. Climate change resilience training module

All seven (7) training modules have been developed in English by HiH EA in Kenya. The rationale for the  review and contextualization is to ensure the modules’ content and message are relevant to our Tanzanian target groups and to the Tanzanian local context, as well as to ensure that beneficiaries receive best in class training that is relevant and participatory. 

Objective of the Assignment
The overall objective of this consultancy is;
  • To review and contextualize current HiH EA Training Modules, which are a guide and reference for HIHEA (TZ)’s trainers (Business Relationship Officers - BROs), ensuring their content is relevant and tailored to the day to day realities of our Tanzanian target groups. This will include reviewing training concepts and examples and adjusting these to the Tanzanian context, and amending learning activities and approaches to ensure maximum relevance to current and prospective beneficiaries. 
  • To pilot draft manuals with existing HIH EA (TZ) members, revise and finalise these according to staff and beneficiary feedback, and subsequently to train the BROs and HIHEA (TZ) on using the final, tailored manuals when training new groups. 

Scope of Work
Specific scope of work includes but should not be limited to the following:
1. Review the current training manual and individual modules.
2. Contextualize each module based on the existing characteristics of the HIH EA (TZ) programme  and existing beneficiaries (predominantly women and youth). 
3. Review module content and where necessary, changes sections to fit the realities and context  of HIH EA (TZ). 
4. Train BROs on how to deliver the manual to beneficiaries. Focus on participatory and practical  approaches to training adults with low literacy levels. 
5. Pilot the new manuals with BROs and members, and revise the manuals according to feedback.
6. Present the reviewed and finalized training modules to HIHEA (TZ) staff for review and  comments. Submit the final version to HIHEA (TZ)’s Country Director.
Commencement date & period of execution
The period of execution of the contract will be 10 working days from the date of contract execution draft presentation, review version after Hand in Hand Feedback, and validation workshop 

Requirements for Experience and Qualifications
a) The consultant should have a background in curriculum development, review and validation.
b) The lead consultant should have; a Master’s degree in social sciences, business related field, environmental resource management, supply chain/value chain management /climate change or 
any other relevant discipline.
c) At least 5-10 years of prior work experience in the field of training and capacity development, working with documents review and validation, experience in designing and developing training 
manuals/modules.
d) Be able to demonstrate proof of experience in carrying out similar assignments elsewhere.
e) Excellent writing, editing, formatting and oral communication skills in English.
f) Previous experience building capacity and training materials for market development and value  chain programs will be an advantage
