TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS) is a Semi -Autonomous Agency under the Ministry’ of Works, Transport and Communication established on July 1, 2000 and suitably is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland’s Trunk and Regional Roads Network. Its primary functions include the roads network maintenance and axle load control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework policies and plans for the road sector.
The Regional Manager TANROADS – MARA is looking for suitable qualified Tanzania candidates for 7posts available on renewable contract terms at Sirari and Rubana Weighbridge Stations in Mara Region, Regional Manager TANROADS – Mara invites qualified and interested candidates to apply for the following positions below:
POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE OPERATORS ( 5 POSTS).
Key qualification for the Weighbridge Operator:
- Holder of full Technician Certificate or Ordinary Diploma in Civil; Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (FTC);
- Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages:
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen
- Not above 35years of Age.
Duties and Responsibilities of Weighbridge Operator.
The holder of this post who reports to Shift Incharge will be responsible for:
- Enforcing Road Traffic Axle Load Control by the use of weighbridge scale devices;
- Carrying out activities as described in the road Traffic (maximum weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001 which include the following;
- Weighing motor vehicles gross vehicle weight (GVW) > 3,500kg plying on our public Roads.
- Imposing road damage fees on the spot for overloaded vehicles;
- Measuring physical dimensions of motor vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle for providing advices to transporter for provision od relevant advice.
- Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed;
- Observing good customer care, dignity and integrity;
- Reporting all matters of the respective shift in-charge;
- Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Shift In-charge/Regional Manager;
REMUNERATION
According to TANROADS Salary Scale: TRS 4.1
POSITION TITLE: PERSONAL SECRETARY I: (1 POST)
- Key qualification for the Personal Secretary:
- Holder of Certificate of Secondary Education Examination or Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination and must have Certificate in Secretarial duties or a certificate from other government recognized institution from NT A 5.
- Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications).
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages.
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen.
- Not above 35 years of Age.

- To manage the Officer’s diary;

EXPERIENCE
She/he must have a minimum of (3) years of cumulative experience related to secretary activities. Experiences of working in the construction industry is an added advantage.

POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE CASHIER (1 POST).
Key qualification for the Weighbridge Cashier:
- Holder of ordinary’ Secondary Education/Advance Secondary’ Education and ATEC, NABE Stage El or equivalent.
- Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications).
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages.
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen.
- Not above 35 years of Age.
Duties and Responsibilities of Weighbridge Cashier.
The holder of this post who reports to Shift Incharge will be responsible for
- Record properly all required weighbridge accounting information.
- Ensure that all necessary accounting forms at the weighbridge station areproperly filled and kept.
- Provide reports on axle loading accounting procedures which may be required.
- Take care of weighbridge accountable documents
- Cooperate with the relevant parties involved in the axle control operations.
- Implement directives relating to axle load control from the high authority and station supervisor.
- To receive money and issue receipts to defaulters.
- Ensure that all receipts are timely recorded and banked.
- Maintain accurate records of receipts received/issued
- Arranges the prompt of utility and other invoices related to the day to day running of the office.
- Maintain defaulters register
- Performs any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by his/her superior or by Head of Accountant and Administration/Regional Manager.
- Reporting all matters to the shift Incharge/Axle Load control supervisor.
According to TANROADS Salary Scale: TRS 3.1
POSITION TITLE: WEIGHBRIDGE SHIFT INCHARGE ( 1POST).
Key qualification for the Shift In-charge:
- Holder of Undergraduate Degree m any profession.
- Must be Computer literate (at least Advance Certificate in Computer Applications);
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages:
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen
- Between 35 and 40 Years of Age.
Duties and Responsibilities of Shift In-charge.
The shift In-charge who reports to the Regional Manager will be responsible for:

- Supervising shift activities that among others including:

- Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed;

- Reporting all matters on Axle Load Control to the Regional Manager;
- Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Regional Manager;

POSITION TITLE: HIGHWAY ENGINEER (1 POST)
Key qualification for the Highway Engineer:
- Holder of Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University/ Institutions. Postgraduate qualification in Highway Engineering is added advantage;
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer;
- Must be fluent in both written and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages.
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen.
- Not above 45 years of Age.

Duties and Responsibilities of Highway Engineer.
- Carry out Supervision of the works contract to ensure that the works comply with the approved design, drawings, specifications, conditions of contract and sound engineering practice;
- Prepare monthly progress report for the Works Contract;
- Monitoring of Contractor’s mobilization progress for staff, equipment and materials and provide appropriate advices when required to facilitate the process;
- Perform routine design review during construction stage and propose appropriate changes when necessary-. All design changes that affect the quality, scope, cost or completion period of the works are subject to prior consultation and approval from the Project Manager;
- Inspecting, testing and approving all materials and completed works to ensure compliance with technical and standard specifications requirements;
- Keeping updated all records including reports, works diaries, correspondence, instructions given to contractor, test records, measurement and quantity calculations, payment records and all other relevant documents pertaining to the works operations and supervision contracts;
- Monitoring the implementation of Environmental policy and code of conducts for Environmental, Social Health and Safety during the construction of the works;
- Monitoring the implementation of road safety measures dining construction of works.
- Measuring quantities of approved works and certify monthly and final payment certificates for consideration by the Employer.
- To perform such other related duties as may be assigned by Project Manager.

- She/he must have a minimum of (5) years of cumulative experience related to road/bridge design and Construction. She/he must have served in a similar capacity on at least two (2) years for Construction of bituminous roads of similar magnitude and complexity in the last 5 years.

POSITION TITLE: MATERIAL ENGINEER (1 POST).
Key qualification for the Material Engineer:
- Holder of Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University/ Institutions. Postgraduate qualification in Geotechnical or Material Engineering is added advantage;
- Must be registered as a Professional Engineer;
- Must be fluent in both w-ritten and spoken Kiswahili and English Languages.
- Must be Tanzanian Citizen.
- Not above 45 years of Age.
