We have the below vacancies available in our Organisation:

The H Band Specialist: Vas Support role is based within Technology 
The role of the Specialist: Vas Support is to do support and maintenance on a UNIX base system according to KPI's. The applications that will be supported will comprise out of the following, but not limited by it: SMS/SMS Firewall/WIG/Add proxy/Adwise/BEM/MMS/Cellsys

Your responsibilities will include: Capacity Monitoring and Planning

Measurement

Monitor traffic usage of VAS services /systems and alert management /engineering when 80% of capacity is reached. (Weighting 10)

Allocate capacity across allocated systems to avoid overloading of systems (Weighting 5)

Peruse graph depicting illustrative growth on a daily bases, for no less than one calendar year (Weighting 5)

Quality of Service

Objective

Maintain 99.98% systems / services availability.

Ensure that there is a downward trend in number of calls escalated to OSS Admin desk by providing weekly/monthly reports on allocated calls.

Timeously escalate incidents to 2nd and 3rd line support with sufficient information as per OSS escalation procedure

System Security and Service Updates

Objective

Regularly audit systems passwords to ensure that they comply too password management dictated by VAS and DATA security policy.

Ensure that only ports required for system operation is functional/active.

Ensure anti-virus and patches are proactively updated, and ensure that systems backups are in place and have been tested

VAS Systems and Site Maintenance
-Measurement

Report status of VAS environment at allocated sites, label machines and maintain the server physical and logical location diagram. Ensure that equipment’s is clean, well ventilated, that all doors are closed and cabinets secured.(Weighting 5)

Inspect OS, applications, databases, and system hardware logs on a daily basis. Monitor storage, memory utilization, CPU, network, etc. Ensure that system monitoring software is in place and tested at least twice a year. (Weighting 5)

VAS Projects

• Measurement
• Participate in project rollout of VAS projects, which should include: scoping session, installation and attendance of project meetings (Weighting 3)
• The checklist and ATP should be completed and signed off prior to handover by QA, SD and OSS. All processes managing day to day operation should be in place. (Weighting 2)
• Measurement
• Generate processes for all new service handed over to the division and constantly re-engineer business processes in order to optimize efficiency. (Weighting 2)
• Schedule planned work as per Vodacom change management process of all changes made to operational/Live systems (Weighting 4)
• Ensure that all system changes, incidences are documented and updated on the G-drive and Portal as per management requirements. (Weighting 4)

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

• Matric
• 3 year Diploma/degree
• 5-7 years experience in the field.
• Unix certification or 5-7 years Unix experience

The base location for this role is Midrand, Techno Park
