Overview
Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) is in the process of revamping its operations and has introduced new equipment to its fleet as part of implementation of its five years Corporate Strategic Plan (2017/2018- 2020-2021). In line with this expansion, the Company is also making some reforms in its structure, internal operations and staffing to accommodate the needs of its business expansion. Therefore, applications are invited from qualified Tanzanians to fill the following positions:-

Position: ICT OFFICER (SYSTEM ENGINEER) (1 POST)  
Entry Qualifications:
The following are qualifications for aspired candidates:-
  • Bachelor of Science/Engineering in Information Technology/ Information System /Computer Science or equivalent relevant qualification;
  • Must have at least three (3) years working experience in a similar field in a competitive business environment;
  • Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC);
  • Technical knowledge in determining the end to end software requirements specification and design;
  • Practical skills on Object-Oriented Design and Analysis (OOA and OOD);
  • Hands-on experience with development in Java/JEE environments;
  • Knowledge in containerization and micro-services application development approaches;
  • Experience in SOAP/REST /Web Services, Application Servers (Tomcat/WebLogic etc.);
  • Experience in Spring Framework (Spring MVC) and other similar application development frameworks;
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Git, JUnit, etc;
  • Experience/knowledge on JSON, XML, and other similar data exchange protocols;
  • Experience/knowledge on AngularJS and other front-end development languages and tools;
  • Strong knowledge of MySQL and PostgreSQL Database Management Systems. Knowledge on MS SQL Server, Oracle, and other DBMS will be added advantage;
  • Familiarity with CI/CD methodology and tools;
  • Working knowledge of various software languages [Java (mandatory), C/C++, .NET, Python] and Possession of relevant recognized ICT professional certification will be an added advantage;
  • Candidates with relevant airline experience will be given preference.

Duties and Responsibilities:
To accomplish the Software Application Development Full Life cycle by:-
  • Designing, coding, and debugging software applications based on various deployment platforms (e.g. web, mobile, desktop etc.), operating systems, programming languages, database management systems, etc., software analysis, code analysis, requirements analysis, software review, identification of code metrics, system risk analysis, software reliability analysis, etc;
  • Assist and participate in analysis of user requirements, prototyping, development of new functionalities, maintenance of applications, integration of technological components, testing, deployment;
  • Installation and configuration of appropriate application servers based on the application programs to be supported;
  • Support, maintain, and preparation of technical and user documentations for various software functionalities;
  • Training and support of software users for effective utilization of deployed systems;
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving routine software application problems;
  • Software modelling and simulation;
  • Front end graphical user interface design/programming;
  • Software testing and quality assurance;
  • Performance tuning, improvement, balancing, usability, automation;
  • Integrate software with existing systems;
  • Evaluate and identify new technologies for implementation;
  • Maintain standards compliance;
  • Working closely with analysts, designers and staff;
  • Producing detailed technical specifications and writing the programming codes;
  • Production Support system maintenance;
  • Independent handling of work products and managing his/ her deliverables;
  • Candidates with relevant airline experience will be given preference.

REMUNERATION:
Attractive remuneration and Fringe Benefits as per ATCL Scales and Incentive Scheme. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Five (5) years contract (renewable) upon successful performance for Manager Revenue Management and Network Planning and ICT Officers and Six (6) months Specific Task Contract for a Clerk of Works which might be extended depending on the completion of the Projects.

(Tanzanian applicants who have studied outside Tanzania should have their certificates approved by relevant authorities i.e Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) or National Examination Council- NECTA))

  4. Names and addresses of at least two reputable referees;
  5. Applicant’s reliable contact address, email address and telephone numbers.
  6. The applicant must indicate willingness to work upcountry when need be.
