Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting
to the Talent Director, the PM: Finance is accountable for the
administrative, financial & risk management operations of the
company. This includes the development of a financial and operational
strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and
monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and
report accurate financial results.
This role requires a highly
motivated and professional person who has the ability to remain composed
in pressurised situations and is meticulous with numbers and details.
o Guide and control the company’s financial function: effective management of accounting, budgeting, cash flow and taxation.
o Implement & maintain sound accounting procedures and controls.
o
Make timely statutory payments to TRA, Pension Fund – Ensuring that tax
is appropriately computed, paid and returns filed on time
o Manage petty cash reconciliation
o Lodge company cheques at the bank & reconcile bank statements
o Maintain a list of creditors and debtors for effective follow-up and client payment
o Manage the preparation and presentation of the company’s financial statements.
o Liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance.
o Mobilise staff and harness their willing participation towards the achievement of corporate goals.
o Ensuring compliance with company finance policies.
o Manage the company’s working capital requirements.
o Manage and update the Office filing system as directed by Talent Director
o Liaising with suppliers to ensure the best deal for Empower
o Inventory Management of all stock and company assets
o
Oversee proper functioning of the office including maintenance and
repairs of office equipment and matters pertaining to the office premise
o Effective Risk Management and governance of all suppliers and service providers
o
Give direction and guidance to Front Office Coordinator for all
sourcing and suppliers management exercise and ensure their learning and
development
o Build Key relationships with Empower suppliers
o Effective cost management
o Cooperate with Empower’s Auditors & Tax Consultant as needed
o Take initiative and advise the Management Team on certain directives that will be in Empower’s best interest
o Handle all HR management issues in consultation with the Management Team
o Supervising support staff such as Office Attendent to work as effectively and efficiently as possible
o Maintain a close relationship with Management Team to ensure clarity in communication
o Inform and advise the team on their progress in achieving their financial goals
o Protect all of Empower’s financial information and company documents
o Give authorization to company staff to use petty cash
o Check up on validity of employee claims and requests and ensure they are being completed in the most cost efficient manner
o Ensure office costs are kept to an absolute minimum and new initiatives are made to further reduce costs
o Form successful relationships with clients so that payment collection is a fast process
o Coordinate with Department Heads to ensure the entire office is aligned and aiming for the same goals
o
Produce weekly statistics as well as monthly reports in Mangement &
strtagey Meetings that will give information on both current and future
financial status
o Enforce company procedures and make sure all hard copy as well as soft copy documentation is processed and filed correctly
o Fleet Management and effective use of fuel
o
Tracking all Empower keys and being responsible for the Empower keys
that are given to you (Office door, petty cash key, key box key, store
room key)
o Identify any financial misconduct by company staff and report to Management Team
o All functions of our ERP Software must be learnt and used to full capacity
o Process payroll
o All inventory in the store room is under your supervision and cannot be obtained without your authorization
o Any other duties as assigned by the Management Team

Educational Qualifications
• Complete CPA (T) or ACCA
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business Administration
• Excellent oral & written communication skills
• Effective time management, attention to detail and deadline-oriented
• Good customer service
• Fluent English & Kiswahili
• Proficient with Microsoft Office & accounting packages
• At least 4 years work experience post relevant academic qualification
• Stable employment history with related duties
• Experience in Administration, Finance, Accounting would be desirable
• Excellent interpersonal skills
Experience Requirements
• Experience working at a Consulting/Law Firm would be ideal
• Successful canddiate must have a GrowthMindset
