Position: Senior Family Planning Advisor, APC
In close coordination with USAID/Tanzania’s focal point for family planning (FP) and the Reproductive & Child Health Section (RCHS) of the MoHCDGEC, specifically the FP unit, the Senior Family Planning Advisor will work with the APC/Tanzania team and the APC team based in the US, to provide leadership, direction and technical assistance to the APC Tanzania portfolio. The Senior Family Planning Advisor will be responsible for the successful implementation of activities within the portfolio.

The Senior Family Planning Advisor will be responsible for the successful implementation of activities within the portfolio.
The position will be based in Dar es Salaam and is contingent upon the availability of funds.

- Provide technical and, as relevant, managerial leadership and assistance to the project team to ensure high quality implementation of activities, adherence to and fulfillment of programmatic activities within budgetary guidelines and compliance with project award requirements.
- Collaborate closely with key government officials in the MoHCDGEC, PO-RALG and partners, to implement activities within the portfolio.
- Coordinate and manage stakeholder engagement on behalf of APC/Tanzania. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with project partners, donors (including USAID), professional associations, as well as other implementing partners in Tanzania.
- Guide, monitor and support the FHI 360 APC/Tanzania team to ensure quality outputs at each stage of the implementation of the FY19 workplan.
- Provide technical inputs and assistance to the APC team, RCHS FP Unit, and stakeholders on technical areas stipulated within the APC workplan. Illustrative technical areas include: coordination and M&E of NFPCIP 2018-2023, community-based FP, integration, social norm change, and engagement of religious leaders.
- Advocate at the national policy and strategic public health levels for inclusion of FP in national health policy, national strategies, and reproductive health strategies by various ministries and projects (from foundations to donors and stakeholders) and be involved in the national decision-making processes through existing technical working groups, review committees and advisory bodies.
- Serve as point of contact for USAID/Tanzania.
- Represent APC/Tanzania within FHI 360/Tanzania internal meetings and discussions.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree or higher in relevant field is required.
- At least 10 years of related work experience required, including project management role(s) of projects with similar scope, size, and complexity.
- Direct experience with family planning programs is required.
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills are required.
