Roles and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities:
• Risk management – Assess legal issues within the organization and to
ensure legal risks are mitigated and enhance protection of company.
•
Legal research & advisory- Provide independent counsel on legal and
business matters and with that broader perspective, partner with
business leadership to identify opportunities and drive innovation.
•
Contract management – Provide transactional support within the business
units including negotiating, drafting, reviewing contractual
instruments.
• Litigation & debt collection management- Review
progress and manage the litigation portfolio, while maintaining minimal
costs across all business units
• Oversee the lawyers responsible
for delivery of all legal services in a wide range of areas, including,
but not limited to: commercial transactions; provider contracting; risk
management; employment; fraud prevention and recovery; and litigation.
• Represent the company on all legal issues, act as the intermediary on
legal matters and be attuned to, and successfully navigate, the
political, business and community spheres on behalf of the business.
• Ensure that an efficient filing system is maintained and central
custody of commercial agreements, leases, licenses & permits.
• Licensing portfolio management: maintain an updated and valid licence schedule, licence renewals and licence applications.
• Market and lobby the needs of the organization to government and
ensure that legislation and regulation, particularly new legislation, is
positive for our lines of business.
• Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed and adhered to.
• File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies, as maybe required.
• Provide employee awareness/training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures.
• Keep informed regarding industry changes, trends, laws and best
practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on
organizational processes.
Key Function on IPO Project
• Act as project manager for the IPO project by managing all activities
including follow up with respective regulatory, and all other
stakeholders internal and externally.
• Be the company’s point
coordinator with the key stakeholders. These include the regulators,
Legal teams, investment bankers, and communication team.
• Assist
the project lead in the collection and preparing of all necessary
documentation. These includes the prospectus, business plans
communication material etc.
• Coordinating the necessary meetings and taking of minutes for the meeting and sharing with relevant stakeholders.
• Assist in the set-up and coordination of various IPO related
activities in in conjunction with the various stakeholders. These
includes marketing activities and investor roadshow
• Be the custodian of the project plan, activities, action plans and deliverables.
• Follow- up with the various stakeholders to ensure action plans and deliverables are within schedule.
• Provide support for ad hoc projects as required

Educational Qualifications
• LLB/Law Degree from a recognized University
• Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania.
Experience Requirements
• Minimum Experience: 3-5 Years (preferably within the telecommunications industry).
• Proven legal and regulatory experience
• Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigation, labor law, etc)
• In-depth understanding of how legal and regulatory issues affect organizations
• High degree of professional ethics, integrity and gravitas
• Excellent judgment and analytical skills
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
