is a young, dynamic Swiss-based NGO operating in Africa. Our objective
is to give some of the most vulnerable children in Tanzania and Malawi
access to the basic necessities that all children deserve; education,
food, healthcare, shelter, and a loving family environment so that they
can break out of the cycle of poverty and live happy, productive lives.
The
help2kids Health Project facilitates the delivery of medical treatment
and First Aid services to over 600 children in Dar es Salaam with the
goal of improving their well-being and to help them ultimately fulfill

We
are currently seeking a full-time Health Project coordinator to help us
manage our Health Project in Tanzania. This is a great position for
someone who is passionate about uplifting the health of children from
marginalised background, health education and small scale project
management

Roles and Responsibilities:
•
Work closely with Health Project Manager and other team members to
implement health-related activities at our partners in Dar es Salaam (3
orphanages, a day care center and a primary school)
• Periodically escort children from our partners to hospitals/clinics
•
Assess First Aid Cabinets at all partners on a monthly basis and
purchase First Aid supplies to restock the cabinets accordingly
• Purchase medicine for children when prescribed by a doctor
• Update and maintain an organised filing system to track data of child beneficiaries, stakeholders and hospital invoices
•
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and partnerships
through field visits, interviews and phone calls with partners
• Organise Driver’s schedule for children’s medical visits and administrative activities
• Organise and deliver health education workshops for the child beneficiaries and their caregivers
• Network with other actors in the Health Sector, including NGOs, Health Officials, medical professionals and health-related companies
• Work with the Health Project Manager to continually conceptualise new ideas and plan new projects
• Account for project expenses
• Report regularly to the Health Project Manager and Field Manager
• Perform other administrative and project-related tasks as requested

Required Competencies:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Social Work, Development or other relevant discipline
• Understanding of the Health Sector (private and public) in Dar es Salaam, including hospitals, clinics, pharmacies and referral systems
• Strong computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Internet, etc.)
• Written and oral fluency in English and Kiswahili, and strong ability to translate between English and Kiswahili
• Self-motivated and able to work well under minimal supervision
• Productive, punctual and strong work ethic
• Flexibility and willingness to chip in where needed
• Passionate about serving vulnerable children and youth
• A positive and friendly attitude when representing help2kids externally and with other staff/volunteers
• Effective and efficient communicator with staff and external partners
• Ability to work well with a team of Tanzanian staff and international staff and volunteers
• Ability to work well with limited resources in a sometimes challenging environment
Beneficial Competencies:
• Academic or professional experience in medical practice/first aid training
• Strong knowledge of public health promotion
• Experience in organising and hosting workshops
• Existing network of contacts in the Health Sector of Dar es Salaam
• Knowledge and professional background on monitoring and evaluating health-related projects
• Driving ability
