EngenderHealth Tanzania is seeking expressions of interest from highly qualified candidates for the HMIS Advisor Position of an anticipated DFID funded programme - Scaling Up Family Planning in Tanzania. This 5-year programme aims to scale up access to FP in rural and urban areas, enabling women to safely plan their pregnancies and improve their sexual and reproductive health and rights. The programme will integrate a comprehensive range of services including care for victims of sexual violence and post-abortion care and will seek innovative ways to reach people with disabilities, refugees and young people with family planning (FP) services.

Position Description:
The HMIS Advisor will support the Ministry of Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children (MoHCDGEC) - Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) Section HMIS nationally. S/he will support the Ministry to ensure the RCH unit data management systems are up to standard and support the culture of data use for decision making across all levels of the Tanzania health system.
Key Qualifications:
- A degree in public health or related fields such as health systems or health information.
- At least 4 years “hands-on experience” in HMIS, M&E, data quality assessments and related areas, with a health or related international NGO or bilateral/multilateral organization.
- Experience in the development and operations of robust Health Information Systems.
- Experience with adult training approaches and excellent workshop and meeting facilitation skills.
- Sound computer literacy and IT knowledge with experience in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, statistical analysis software such as SPSS, SAS, STATA or EPI-Info.
- Superior analytical skills including quantitative research activities in terms of planning, implementation and data analysis.
- Good interpersonal and demonstrated ability to work effectively and harmoniously with other project staff, host country counterparts, DFID, consultants, other donors and international organizations.
- A team player but also able to work independently and to manage various projects on a daily basis with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of MoHCDGEC will be a strong advantage.
- Ability to travel within Tanzania as required by the position
