Job Description

Brief description: The position of computer systems analyst consists of analyzing the computerized system needs of an organization and engineering a business solution supported by data processing systems. Duties and responsibilities include analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems.
Tasks

• Confer with clients regarding the nature of the information processing or computation needs a computer program is to address;
• Consult with management to ensure agreement on system principles;
• Coordinate and link the computer systems within an organization to increase compatibility and so information can be shared;
• Document business requirements using a formal approach and methodology such as UML, RUP or other formalism;
• Determine computer software or hardware needed to set up or alter system;
• Develop, document and revise system design procedures, test procedures, and quality standards;
• Expand or modify systems to serve new purposes or to improve workflow;
• Provide staff and users with assistance in solving computer related problems, such as malfunctions and program problems;
• Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn how to develop programs that meet staff and user requirements;
• Review and analyze computer printouts and performance indicators to locate code problems, and correct errors by correcting codes;
• Prepare computer programs and systems specification to be coded by programmers;
• Coordinating the installation of computer programs and systems.

Qualifications and requirements

• Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Strong technical, analytic skills.
• Build and maintain a relationship with key stakeholders.
• Ability to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, and to give full attention to what other people are saying;
• Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
• Telecommunications experience would be advantageous
