Title: Health Program ManagerTATU Project is a non-profit organization that facilitates equal and sustainable development for the rural community of Msitu wa Tembo and Londoto in Northern Tanzania. We address community needs and build effective solutions through active collaboration with members of the community and relevant stakeholders.
AFYA Program Description
AFYA (Health) program addresses the
problems of the community related to health. We aim to improve health,
perception of health and access to medical facilities. We aim to
increase awareness, especially about prevention of prevalent conditions,
and to enhance functioning of local facilities, such as the dispensary.
Project Descriptions
– Medical caravan:
a punctual intervention twice a year to enhance confidence of the
community on their dispensary and provide accessible health care
– Home Based Care (HBC): for nursing and general consultation for patients with chronic diseases or those who cannot visit the dispensary
– Kucheza ni Afya: scholar health through sport programs and health campaigns
– Deworming: to enhance better prevention of intestinal worms and give medicine treatment massively
– Community Health Worker (CHW)s: education for self-health awareness and prevention of disease
Job Description
The AFYA manager will use his/ her
technical knowledge on heath topics in order to review and improve the
content of health campaigns, monitoring system, care interventions, as
well as to collect data about relevant indicators. The manager should
work to advance the project towards sustainability and liaise between
the CEO, all involved community members as well as all the involved
health stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
– Improve the scientific quality of our campaigns for prevention and access to health care.
– Coordinate, monitor and develop all projects and problem solve any challenges when needed
– Gather relevant epidemiological data about chronic diseases (HTN, DM, mental illness, etc.) affecting the community.
– Improve chronic diseases awareness and management by local dispensary and health workers.
– Improve the strategy towards sustainability of our plans
– Manage volunteers and coordinators involved in the AFYA program
– Communicate effectively between
all relevant stakeholders including organization management, local
government, partners and other relevant NGOs.
Selection Criteria
It is essential for you to have:
– Knowledge on health, having or being an advanced student of Nursing, Medicine or other related degree.
– Curiosity on how health interventions can better improve people’s satisfaction with their health
– Innovative and analytical
thinker, with an ability to find solutions to complex problems whilst
incorporating the values of the organization
– Ability to work well in a team and autonomously
– A proficient level of English and Swahili skills, written and oral
– Passion and values that align with TATU Project
It is desirable for you to have:
– Management experience
– Experience working with NGOs
– Experience in project coordination
Conditions
- Office is located in Moshi
- Hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with occasional weekends when necessary
- 1 year contract with expectation of renewal based on performance
- First three months of probationary period
- Salary from 600,000 – 625 000 TZS per month
- 60% Health insurance compensation
- Communication stipend
- Transportation covered to and from the field
- Mandatory taxes and pension compensation
