The Jane Goodall Institute Tanzania (JGI-TZ) was founded in 1977 by Dr. Jane Goodall, The JGI Tanzania with its partners makes a difference through community-cantered conservation and the innovative use of science and technology, we work closely with local communities in Tanzania, inspiring hope through a collective power of individual action. Majority of young people in schools and communities are acquiring the knowledge and skills to become compassionate conservation leaders in their own environment through the Roots & Shoots program.

The Jane Goodall Institute Tanzania (JGI-TZ) is a reputable and rapidly expanding non-governmental organization committed to wildlife research, conservation, socio-economic development and environmental education. JGI Tanzania performs its activities through its four Programs, these are Gombe-Masito-Ugalla (GMU) Program for Community Centered Ecosystem Conservation, The Gombe Stream Research Centre (GSRC) Program for Wildlife Research and Roots & Shoots (R&S) program for Youths Environmental Education.
JGI Tanzania is currently seeking to recruit suitably qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill the following vacant position:
Job Position: Field Officer
Work Station: Kigoma Municipality
Reporting Line: Field Manager

Main responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • Day-to-day following up of project activities in village communities.
  • Supervise demonstration plots and pilot projects.
  • Support the Field Manager on mobilising, engaging and raising awareness to the village communities in the implementation of the project activities.
  • Work closely with village leaders and communities on the implementation of project activities.
  • Convey information between project and villages.
  • Report on performance and challenges of the project.
  • Prepare and participate in training to the village communities.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor. 

Minimum Job Qualifications and other Requirements:
  • Diploma or undergraduate degree in Community Development, conservation, Social Science or related fields.
  • At least 2 years working experience in field work.
  • Previous knowledge and experience in working with conservation and sustainable natural resources management project is desirable, o Experience working in rural and remote areas of Tanzania implementing field work, o Computer literate
  • Ability to work under pressure, tight deadlines and less supervision, self-motivated person, team player, reporting and presentation skills, o Good Communication skills; fluent in Swahili and English, both verbal and written.
