Project management
- Manage grants within the Zanzibar portfolio, including general administration, information management, and budget monitoring and compliance with donor agreements.
- Monitor and report on progress on project objectives; ensure D-tree staff and partners are kept on track to achieve results.
- Develop project strategies and annual work plans with the team including quarterly and monthly work plans and budgets.
- Collaborate with team to devise and implement the strategy for project implementation.
- Develop monitoring, supervision, and evaluation frameworks.
- In collaboration with the D-tree team, develop and oversee implementation of mixed methods project evaluations, including the development of tools, oversight of data collection, and analysis.
- Lead report-writing and dissemination efforts for projects that you manage.
- Gain a basic understanding of Mangologic software and mobile applications in order to support the development of application specifications including flowcharts, detailed protocols, and tools.
- Proactively communicate about bugs or updates to the mobile application with a technical team to ensure usability of mobile applications
- Work with D-tree Program Coordinators to institute mobile application technical support and troubleshooting strategy.
- In close collaboration with the Program Director, Program Manager and Technical Advisor, foster effective working relationship with Zanzibar government at all levels
- Establish strategic alliances with other implementing organizations and donors in Zanzibar to explore areas for collaboration and expansion
- Communicate effectively through available forums at regional, district, ward and village level the position or/and role of D-tree International
- Working with the Program Manager, Program Director and Technical Advisor represent D-tree to senior government officials/personnel and with NGO partners
- Present project highlights and results at meetings and forums/conferences
We are looking for a motivated, passionate individual who is willing to wear multiple hats and do what it takes to make our projects succeed. Basic requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience, including experience managing projects
- Bachelor’s degree and coursework in relevant field (e.g. public health, sociology)
- Tanzanian national required.
- Superior analytic skills; ability to think logically and rationally about problems
- Must be able to work independently, multi-task, collaborate with a distributed team, be persistent and work under tight deadlines with minimal supervision
- Strong quantitative skills with the ability to interpret data and measure impact
- Excellent written and spoken English and Swahili required
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s or advanced degree in a relevant field (e.g. public health, nursing, medicine)
- Strong preference for candidates from Zanzibar or with experience working in Zanzibar
- Deep understanding of Zanzibar health system and experience collaborating with Ministry of Health and District Health Management Teams.
- Prior experience managing and/or implementing family planning programs
- Prior experience with designing and implementing community sensitization programs
- Prior experience managing and training health workers in a clinical setting
- A systems thinker: You are able to understand linkages and interactions between individual components in a health system, and design solutions to strengthen the overall system.
- An innovator: You enjoy thinking outside of the box and want to use that thinking to solve pressing global health problems.
- A detail oriented & strategic thinker: You pay attention to small details and focus on quality and consistency, but also have the ability to see the big picture and think strategically.

Field Implementer
Job ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for candidates who are willing to take on any tasks
that are required to make our projects successful. This will include:Coordination of health worker and supervisory activities:
- Develop schedules and work plans for health worker outreach events
- Communicate with District Health Management Teams (DHMT) and health workers for planned activities
- Coordination of outreach events, meetings and community engagement activities
- Plan facility and community deployments
- Design and implement trainings and follow-up sessions
- Data collection and monitoring
- Build Ministry of Health and DHMT capacity to manage program, including CHV and supervisor training, troubleshooting, providing supportive supervision, and utilizing dashboards to monitor performance and outcomes
- Write necessary reports about field activities
- Review, evaluate and present findings
- Prepare presentations summarizing program progress
- Present program findings to the Ministry of Health during quarterly review meetings
- Testing mobile applications for content and usability
- Loading applications to phones
- Trouble-shooting hardware and software issues with mobile devices in clinics and communities
- Liaising with the program team to ensure successful application updates and identify and solve technical issues as they arise
- Communicate clearly with the D-tree team on progress in implementing field activities and any challenges to be addressed
Required Skills and Experience
- Work experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience implementing public health or community development programs in Tanzania required
- Advanced Diploma required. University Degree preferred.
- Tanzanian national required. Strong preference for candidates from Zanzibar or with experience working in Zanzibar.
- Experience with technology in a professional setting desired.
- Language: Excellent written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
- Telephone/Computer: Must be familiar with the use of information technology tools such as mobile devices (including smartphones) and have strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and internet navigation.
- Should be motivated, detail oriented, well-organized, team player and comfortable working in the field in rural settings
- Proven communication skills, including experience in conducting training and/or supervision of activities.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and report remotely.
