Accounting Specialist (1 post - Morogoro) Tetra Tech ARD, Inc. a US — based international development firm is implementing the USAID Tanzania Water Resources Integrated Development Initiatives (WARIDI) which seeks to achieve improvements in health, water resources management, agriculture, climate change adaption and the environment in Tanzania. Tetra Tech is advertising for the following positions to be based in Morogoro. All applicants should be Tanzanian citizens and be fluent in Swahili and English.
The positions are immediately available. Candidates must be able to work to work in a multi — cultural, multi — ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender. Women are encouraged to apply.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years' experience in an equivalent position. Experience with accounting software is required. Experience working in a similar position for an NGO or an international organization is essential. Candidates with demonstrable experience in USAID financial regulations will have added advantage. Must have the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. In addition, must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.

Education:
University/college degree in accounting or finance (relevant experience and professional qualifications may substitute for the degrees mentioned). Possession of CPA certification will be added.; advantage.
Responsibilities:
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for reviewing all types of financial transactions such as payment requests including travel advances, grant reimbursements, suppliers' invoices), including QuickBooks accounting software transactions. Prepare monthly payroll and ensure statutory deductions are made and timely paid to the appropriate authorities and maintain proper documentation. To participate and perform grantee pre-award assessments on financial responsibility.
To ensure appropriate internal controls are in place to meet Tetra Tech ARD accounting standards as well as USAID financial regulations. Also, assist in preparing annual financial statements, facilitate external audit and filing of statutory periodical/annual returns. Also assist in preparing and closing of monthly accounts as per Tetra Tech ARD accounting requirements.
