CONSULTANCY POSITION FOR GENDER EQUALITY TECHNICAL SPECIALIST TO SUPPORT GLOBAL AFFAIRS CANADA

indicate their interests to provide consultancy Services as the Gender
Equality Technical Specialist to support Global Affairs Canada (GAO)
under the Field Support Services Project (FSSP) Tanzania. Launched in June 2017, Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy recognizes that supporting gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls is the best way to build a more peaceful, inclusive and prosperous world. Committing to a feminist approach to international assistance requires a significant shift in how Canadian assistance works. The gender equality technical specialist will pay an integral role in the implementation of Canada's Feminist International Assistance Policy in Tanzania.
The specialist will provide analysis and advice on, planning, design, management, monitoring and coordination of Canada's development assistance programming and policy dialogue in Tanzania (among other tasks).
Candidates will be evaluated based on the following key qualifications and experience:
i. Bachelor's degree from a recognized university.
ii. A minimum of 4 years of professional work experience as technical expert and advisor on gender equality, of which at least two years are in relation to international development work in developing countries, preferably Tanzania or East Africa region.
iii. Experience providing gender equality technical advice and support on complex international development programs and projects in one or more of the following sectors; education, health, sustainable economic growth
iv. Experience in providing written gender equality analysis and comments on program/project proposals, implementation plans, progress and evaluation.
v. Experience in engaging in technical forums and policy dialogue on gender equality issues with development partners and government officials.
vi. Experience in carrying out research and analysis of systemic and emerging gender equality issues and trends.
In addition to the key qualifications above, the incumbent is also expected to demonstrate the following skills and competencies:
• Strong research, analytical and writing skills
• Strong skills in leadership. teamwork, networking, coordination and intercultural communication
• Advanced professional proficiency in English; and
• General professional proficiency in Kiswahili
