Position title: Forest Corporate and Business Coordinator
Reports to: Forest Programme Coordinator - WWF Tanzania
Country Office Grade: A3 I.
THE SCOPE OF WORK
The Trillion Trees Programme (TTP) is a major new initiative conceived by Restore UK, an environmental foundation. A group of three international conservation organizations - the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-UK & Tanzania) and BirdLife International (BLI) will implement the programme. The world's forests face a host of threats, which often reflect the fact that forests and the services they provide are not adequately valued in decision making and economic policy frameworks. These pressures are well known and many major international initiatives are attempting to respond to them. Rather than competing with these existing global initiatives TTP will support them in their aims, with a particular focus on enhancing the scale and effectiveness of implementation.
The Trillion Trees Programme (TTP) is just one part of the very significant global effort that is needed to realize this ambitious vision. The TT programme seeks to promote even higher levels of ambition regarding both outcomes and the mobilization of finance, and a longer-term vision. The main focus of Forest Corporate and Business Coordinator will be towards mobilizing and applying finance for projects that contribute to the TTP. The Forest Corporate and Business Coordinator will concretize actions with a strong link related to policy/business actions that relate to networking with large scale corporate private sectors/companies in and outside the country.
II. Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and implements the Forest Programme Base Strategy that optimizes relationships with private sectors/partners that are key for advancing forests programme - these include bilateral and multilateral government aid agencies (GAA), Civil society Organizations, Businesses, Corporate companies and WWF networks.
Develops and manages partnerships with governmental, foundations and private donors. Works with TCO Partnership Development Manager to articulate country level initiatives with regional and International perspectives on forestry sectors.
Put in place and oversee systems that monitor fund raising and partnership relations (e.g., regular reviews of donor reports and other communications, MOU's and other agreements, funding proposals, policy dialogues etc.)
Work closely as a Forest team to optimize synergies to ensure overall Fund raising and partnership satisfaction.
Support the Forest Programme in managing donor and potential donor relations by organizing meetings, preparing presentations and documents and doing the research needed to target potential funding.
Working with programme staff, donors and other stakeholders in the community to identify new opportunities for funding from existing donors; and new potential donors for WWF Forest programme.
Has overall responsibility to identify research, build and maintain satisfactory relationships with partners at the national level and liaising with the TCO Partnership Manager, on sub-regional and regional levels respectively.
Working across WWF networks to ensure that fundraising for forest programme is maximized (systematically working with WWF UK at programme and fundraising level)
Provides support, backstopping, guidance on fund raising and partnership matters at all levels;
Finds solutions to ensure compliance with donor agreements, e.g., timely technical and financial reporting and fulfilling donor's requirement regarding communication;
Performs other duties as requested by the Forest Programme Coordinator and/or Conservation Manager.
III. Working Relationships Internal - Is part of WWF Forest Team and Interacts with TCO Partnership Manager and Conservation Manager. External - Interacts with government aid agency donors, embassies, national governmental institutions, non-governmental organisations, academic institutions, business and industry leaders, the media, donors, specialists / consultants, and other stakeholders.
Required Functional Skills
University degree in Business Management, Development Studies or related fields;
Proven track record in successfully managing inter-institutional relations, preferably in the development field;
At least 5 years professional experience in inter-institutional relationship management;
Highly competent on proposal and report writing skills, ability to understand the complex funding strategies of donors and match WWF's programmes against these strategies, understanding of the key principles of good project delivery as relevant to fundraising (objective, outcomes, outputs, activities and monitoring indicators)
Knowledge and experience of the realities of development issues, donor institutions, and the not-for-profit sector;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; Kiswahili, or any other language could be an added advantage.
V. Required Behavioural Skills

Excellent inter-personal skills, and proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships, negotiate/mediate on issues, chair meetings and resolve conflicts;

Approachable, and an ability to engage partners at all levels;
